Winning the Fourth International Fellowship, FEB UIN Jakarta Lecturers Participate in Research Programs in Taiwan
Jakarta, UIN News Online – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's strategic steps towards a World Class Islamic University have been strengthened again with brilliant achievements in the international arena. Lecturer of the Development Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) as well as Director of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Dr. Arisman, M.Si., was officially selected as one of the participants in the ASEAN Visiting Scholars Program in Taiwan.
Dr. Arisman's participation places him as part of a limited delegation consisting of six selected lecturers and researchers from various countries in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. While in Taipei, these academics are scheduled to conduct a series of strategic dialogues with high-ranking Taiwanese officials and experts to dissect the dynamics of regional economic and political issues.
The agenda of the visit included a high-level meeting with the Vice Minister of Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the leadership of the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, academics from Tamkang University, to the executives of the Industrial Technology Research Institute and the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau. This engagement is a strategic space to deepen cross-sectoral understanding, considering that Taiwan's bilateral relations with ASEAN have been based on strengthening investment, trade, and global health technology innovation.
The success of this program also adds to the long international research track record that Dr. Arisman has made. His participation in Taiwan is recorded as the fourth international fellowship throughout his academic career. Previously, he has carved out a global research portfolio through three prestigious programs around the world, namely as a Research Fellow for three months at Western Sydney University Australia through the support of the Australia Awards, passed the fellowship program selection from the US Department of State in Washington D.C., and completed a fellowship program at Denmark Technical University (DTU), Copenhagen, with the support of the Danida Fellowship.
Consistency in penetrating the global research network confirms that academic capacity development through multidisciplinary collaboration and cross-border experience is the main key in boosting the quality of higher education.
This achievement is in line with UIN Jakarta's commitment to continue to encourage the academic community to actively take part in the global stage. Through the expansion of international research networks, UIN Jakarta is optimistic that it can continue to strengthen global recognition and accelerate the achievement of the vision of an international standard university.
