WHO Recognizes FK UIN Jakarta Integrated Lab as the Best PCR Examination Network

Ciputat, UIN NEWS Online- The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes the Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta (Lab Terpadu FK UIN Jakarta) as one of the laboratories with the best Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) examination network.

This recognition is based on the results of the WHO quality assurance agency's assessment of the Integrated Laboratory of FK UIN Jakarta. According to the Head of the Integrated Lab, Dr. Erike Anggraini, the assessment was conducted by WHO on around 600 Covid-19 Labs in Indonesia.

"Of the approximately 600 Covid-19 Labs in Indonesia, only 170 have been recognized by WHO, with varying values," explained dr. Erike, in Ciputat, Thursday (1/4/2021).

According to Erike, since its inauguration in June 2020 until March 2021, the Covid-19 Integrated Lab of FK UIN Jakarta has tested 9,723 specimens. Of these, 3,847 (39 percent) specimens were positive and 5,777 (61 percent) specimens were negative.

It is known that UIN Jakarta now has an integrated laboratory to serve Covid-19 molecular examinations. The laboratory, located in the Faculty of Medicine (FK) building on campus 3 Ciputat, South Tangerang, is also a Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) examination network in Banten Province.

Erika hopes that with the good recognition from WHO, the Integrated Lap of FK UIN Jakarta in the future will always receive support from all parties. Especially in efforts to develop molecular research, both for the diagnosis of infections and non-infections.

"However, in an effort to prevent Covid-19, I urge the public to continue to apply the 5Ms, namely wearing masks, washing hands with soap, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, and limiting mobility," said Dr. Erike. (Ns)
