"We Are The Best Islamic University," says the Rector during UIN Jakarta's 68th Anniversary
Auditorium Harun Nasution, UIN Online News — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta held an Open Senate Session on Wednesday (24/09/2025) to commemorate its 68th Anniversary, adopting the theme “Strengthening Global Reputation Towards Indonesia Emas 2045” at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, highlighting the university’s commitment to global transformation.
In his keynote address, Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., reaffirmed the institution’s determination to transition into a PTN BH, a state university with legal entity and autonomy status.
“Our grand agenda is to position UIN Jakarta as a globally recognized university with modern governance, independence, and competitiveness,” he stated.
Asep Saipudin Jahar outlined four key pillars underpinning the university’s development: a Green Campus program based on eco-theology, digital transformation, bureaucratic reform, and entrepreneurial independence through the UIN Jakarta Business Center. These strategic priorities, he emphasized, form the foundation for UIN Jakarta’s evolution into a world-class institution.
From a financial perspective, UIN Jakarta has achieved remarkable growth with internally generated revenue surpassed IDR 1 trillion and followed by consistent annual increases, proving UIN Jakarta as the top monetary management ranking.
He further reported successful static asset optimization, including the transformation of UIN Jakarta Hospital at Pondok Gede and in Ciputat. Together, the hospitals now generate more than IDR 100 billion annually.
On the academic front, UIN Jakarta has earned global recognition, ranking in the world’s top 101–150 by subject in Theology, Divinity, and Religious Studies. Sixty-three study programs have secured international accreditation, 48 journals are indexed in SINTA, and four have attained international reputations. The Faculty of Medicine has also produced more than 1,200 professional doctors.
“UIN Jakarta is now recognized in international academics. We are proud of our 63 internationally accredited programs, 48 SINTA-indexed journals, four globally reputable journals, and a medical faculty that has graduated thousands of physicians,” he noted.
UIN Jakarta currently serves more than 36,000 students, supported by 1,260 faculty members, including 133 professors. To further contribute to national healthcare development, the university recently opened two new specialist programs in pulmonology and obstetrics-gynecology.
Closing his remarks, Prof. Asep called on the entire academic community to continue advancing UIN Jakarta’s shared vision.
“I send my regards to all of you since these achievements are the result of our collective effort—administrative staff, faculty, students, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Together, let us elevate UIN Jakarta into a world-class university,” he expressed.
