UIN Jakarta Green Campus Initiative

UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to water saving and utilization through various programs designed to support environmental sustainability. As part of concrete measures, we have built a rainwater harvesting tank system designed to collect and store rainwater for beneficial use, as well as developed an elevated water tank that supports high efficiency water distribution.

This sustainable water management measure is also reinforced by the implementation of a water-saving toilet system that uses technology to maximize water consumption efficiency. We also have a wastewater treatment plant that processes liquid waste from daily campus activities, producing recycled water that is reused to water the greenery scattered around campus and even used for toilet flushing needs. This initiative not only reduces the use of clean water but also provides direct benefits to the sustainability of the campus environment.

Effective management of rainwater catchment areas helps control water runoff while improving soil quality in the campus area. This condition is very beneficial to support the growth of greenery in the university environment, maintain adequate water availability for plants and other ecosystems, and have a positive impact on fauna life around the campus. With these programs, UIN Jakarta not only protects the campus area from drought, but also maintains the continuity of water supply which plays an important role in maintaining the balance of the environment and ecosystems in and around the campus.
