Wamenag Officiated the Opening of the 8th ICEMS

Bandung, UIN News Online – Indonesian Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs (Wamenag) Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi officiated the opening of the 8th International Conference on Education in Muslim Society  (ICEMS) at Grand Tjokro Premier Hotel, Bandung on Monday (08/22/2022).

Accompanied by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis and Dean of FITK UIN Jakarta Sururin, Wamenang said that the theme of the seminar entitled "The Future of Education: Moderate, Inclusive, and Professional" was considered very appropriate because education is an important infrastructure in building human resources with moderate, tolerant and inclusive views.

"The world of education naturally becomes an important part in promoting the strengthening of religious moderation," he said.

On the same occasion, the Dean of FITK Sururin said that the conference, which was being held for the eighth time, was carried out in line with the momentum of social recovery after the Covid 19 pandemic. The research results presented by the conference participant researchers were expected to contribute to the recovery efforts.

“Through The 8th ICEMS, we share research results and good practices from researchers from various regions to formulate educational strategies that are moderate, inclusive, and professional in order to overcome learning losses that occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Sururin.

The international conference was attended by 160 presenters from within and outside the country and guest speakers from Indonesia and abroad. Among them are Azyumardi Azra, and Muhammad Zuhdi (UIN Jakarta), Syihabuddin (UPI Bandung), Rokhmad (Balitbangdiklat Kemenag RI), Stephen Dobson (New Zealand), Muhammad Sabrir bin Sahrir (Malaysia), Wadiaa Khoury (Lebanon), Mohd Zulfahmi Bin Muhammad (Malaysia), and Fathalla Mohamed Fathalla Zekaizak (Egypt).

For information, At the same moment, Zainut Tauhid who is also a graduate of Graduate School (SPs) of UIN Jakarta, also launched his book entitled “Kontestasi Ideologi Politik: Gerakan Islam Indonesia di Ruang Publik Digital”. This book is an adaptation of his doctoral dissertation. (zm/usa)
