Vice Rector III: Community Services is a part of Three Pillars of Higher Education

Tangerang, UIN News Online – Social services that is done by the student is a part of Three Pillars of Higher Education practice. It also proves that the students are the agents of social change.

This was conveyed by Vice Rector for Students Affairs UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Yusran Razak MA while closing the social activities held by UIN Jakarta at Cikuya, Solear, Tangerang, Banten, Saturday, (5/6). These activities are held in order to celebrate the 60^th anniversary of ADIA / IAIN / UIN Jakarta.

“I deeply appreciate the idea of holding social activities in the community. Because, it is in accordance with the practice of Three Pillars of Higher Educatioin, namely education and teaching, research, and community service,” said Yusran.

Yusron said the community activities undertaken by the students at least can prove that the mission of higher education institution is not merely an academic. University as an educational institution should encourage their students to have a sense of caring to the community.

“Social activities are very important because it will teach the students on how to socialize and to actualize their own potential,” he added.

The social activities in Cikuya were attended by 100 participants, including the Student Senate (Sema), Student Council (Dema), UIN Jakarta Scout, Students Regiment (Menwa), PMI KSR, Kalacitra Photography, and Marching Band. These activities lasted for three days (4-6 May, 2017). (usa)
