Vice Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University India visits UIN Jakarta

RSU, UIN News Online – In order to strengthen international cooperation program and to enhance the relationship between India and Indonesia, the Vice Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala, India Bahauddeen Muhammed Jamaluddeen Nadwi visits UIN Jakarta on Wednesday (11/02/2022).

His visit was warmly welcomed by Vice Rector of Cooperation and Institutional Development Lily Surraya Eka Putri accompanied by Head of International Office and Cooperation UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Dadi Darmadi at the Ruang Sidang Utama, campus I of UIN Jakarta.

At the meeting, they spoke on how both universities and countries can benefit through this program, to give a better and brighter future to our professors, lecturers, researchers, hardworking and determined students. The aim is to bring tomorrow's leaders together. There is no better way than having Darul Huda Islamic University’s students study in Indonesia. The student exchange program is not only for both universities' students to visit each others‘ countries but also to exchange cultural diversity and knowledge which one needs to know about the other.

In his presentation,  Bahauddeen Muhammed Jamaluddeen Nadwi said that it is not only crucial to learn theoretical knowledge but also to seek practical knowledge. Religious and worldly studies should never be separated and given as a decision to our Muslim students, they should be connected so that they can learn and benefit from both this world and the hereafter. The more we take in from one another, the more diversity comes in between, so does the respect for the people, culture and religious beliefs increase.

“Indian and Indonesian people are very welcoming to foreigners. The similarities in behaviour and cultural traits have an instant bond between the two countries, he said.

He also added that UIN Jakarta is vastly elated to have a connection with Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala, India. Previously, UIN Jakarta also hosted Dr. Mahmood Kooria, an alumni of Darul Huda and is currently a researcher at Leiden University, the Netherlands. “He spent two months here working on a research collaboration with local researchers,” he added.

At the end of the meeting, both representatives of the universities signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding), in the presence of some notable academics and lecturers, among others, Arief Subhan (Vice Rector for Student Affairs), Yusuf Rahman (Dean, Faculty of Ushuluddin), Suparto, (Dean, Faculty of Dakwah and Communication), Syarif Hidayatullah (Vice Dean, Faculty of Dirasah Islamiyyah), Priyono, (Head of Bureau for Academic, Students and Cooperation). It is hoped that both parties will implement the programs together in the near future. (hw/usa)
