Ushuluddin Faculty Professor Receives Kyokujitsu-shō Award from the Japanese Government
Japan, UIN News Online – Ushuluddin Faculty Professor of UIN Jakarta, Prof Dr Din Syamsuddin Receives Kyokujitsu-shō (The Order of Rising Sun, Gold, and Silver Star) Award from the Japanese Government, Tuesday (11/6/2018) at Tokyo Imperial Palace, Japan. According to the Japanese Embassy for Indonesia PR department, this award was given for Din's role and involvement in promoting interaction between the government and Japanese society with the Islamic community. Din is also considered to have a role in inter-faith dialogue and establish relations between Japanese religious leaders and politicians, thereby increasing mutual understanding between Japanese society and the Indonesian Islamic community.
Din, who served as Chairman of the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation among Civilizations (CDCC) was invited several times to be a speaker at academic forums at Doshisha University of Kyoto and Waseda University in Tokyo; regularly attend and give lectures at International Peace Prayer at Sendai Buddhist Temple, Mount Hiei, Kyoto; and working with the Association on Communication of the Transcultural Studies Foundation (ACTSF) and several Japanese companies in conducting social activities in Japan and Indonesia since 2004.
For information, this award was the second award for Din Syamsuddin after previously received the Japanese Foreign Minister's Commendation award in September 2016. (usa)
