Upholding Patient Safety and Islamic Medical Ethics, UIN Jakarta Inaugurates Thirty New Physicians in 57th Hippocratic Oath Ceremony

CIPUTAT, UIN Online News – Reinforcing its national mandate to produce ethically grounded healthcare professionals, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially inaugurated 30 new medical doctors during the 57th Hippocratic Oath Ceremony on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Held at the M.K. Tadjudin Auditorium, the solemn ceremony brought together university executive leadership, hospital administrators, the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), and proud families.

The executive assembly was attended by Academic Vice Rector Professor Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, Student Affairs Vice Rector Professor Ali Munhanif, Institutional Affairs Vice Rector Professor Din Wahid, alongside Dean of FK UIN Jakarta Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki, Sp.OT(K).

Delivering the charge to the new physicians, Vice Rector Professor Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie underscored that the designation of an Islamic doctor carries moral responsibilities that extend beyond technical medical expertise.

Citing the classical physician-philosopher Ishaq ibn Ali al-Ruhawi, Professor Tholabi urged the graduates to treat the spiritual and emotional well-being of their patients alongside physical ailments.

"Becoming an Islamic physician today demands far more than clinical competence: it requires serving as an active bearer of ethical values," Professor Tholabi stated. "You do not simply administer healing; you restore hope. Be physicians who are respected for their clinical mastery, honored for their professional etiquette, and cherished for their compassionate character."

Reinforcing strict professional ethics, Dr. Dewi Apriyantini, representing RSUP Fatmawati and UIN Jakarta Hospital, delivered an uncompromising directive regarding clinical integrity and patient advocacy.

"Patient safety is an absolute priority," Dr. Dewi declared. "A physician must never view medical practice as a financial return on investment. You must strictly honor the solemn Oath of Hippocrates while continuously updating your knowledge to keep pace with rapid medical innovations."

During the ceremony, the university presented Student Achievement Awards to 21 high-performing medical graduates, led by dr. Fauzia Ilman Naqiya, who secured top academic honors with a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.83.

Reflecting on her cohort's academic journey which included navigating clinical training during the COVID-19 pandemic, dr. Fauzia expressed profound gratitude to parents, faculty, and clinical mentors for building their physical, mental, and cognitive resilience.

The proceedings concluded with the official pinning of the UIN Jakarta Muslim Doctors Alumni Association (IDOMAIN) insignia. By deploying its 57th cohort of physicians, UIN Jakarta reinforces its commitment to advancing global medical science, clinical integrity, and compassionate public service.
