University has a responsibility to encourage the sakina family
Jakarta, UIN News Online – Higher education institution has an important role and task in strengthening the effort in preserving marital institutions for the development of quality Indonesian families.
This was said by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis after being appointed as the Marriage Counseling and Preservation Advisory Agency (BP4) expert council by the Minister of Religion Fachrul Razi at the operation room, Indonesian Ministry of Religious affairs office, Jakarta, Tuesday (02/18/2020). According to Amany, the family becomes the smallest unit that determines the level of social life quality.
“The role of universities such as UIN Jakarta is considerable. We have a big responsibility in raising a family with psychological services, consulting and so on. Likewise with research and willingness to become volunteers, mediators, and counselors for strong household development,” said Rector.
Amany herself is appointed to become one of the central BP4 expert councils along with a number of academics such as Muhammad Amin Suma, Fasli Jalal, and Reni Akbar Hawadi. In the same council, it is also filled with several important figures such as Zaitunah Subhan, Huzaemah Tahido Yanggo, Nurhayati Djamas, Achmad Mubarok, and Bahrul Hayat.
Moreover, Amany also appreciated the contribution and role of BP4 so far. The institution that was officially established on January 3, 1961 was considered quite consistent in carrying out guidance and assistance of families in the country.
According to Amany, Indonesian families need an institution that specializes in mediating, fostering, and encouraging respect for marital institutions. “BP4 strengthens the institution of marriage by providing mediation, family strengthening socialization, relations between husband and wife or children and parents,” she explained.
For information, Indonesian Religious Affairs Minister Fachrul Razi inaugurated the board of BP4 for the 2019-2024 periods. In his remarks, the Minister of Religion stated that BP4 has become an important part of the efforts of Muslims and the Indonesian people to maintain the values of marriage and family in the midst of the changing times.
“Family is the most valuable treasure for human life, as well as the living foundation of the nation and state society,” he said. (usa/zm/adt)
