UIN-QU Syahid 2026: UIN Jakarta Strengthens Solidarity Through Collaborative Qurban Initiative

Student Center, UIN News Online — Commemorating Eid al-Adha and the spirit of devotion exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the UIN-QU Syahid 2026: Synergy of Qurban for Humanity distribution ceremony at the Student Center Hall on Thursday (May 28, 2026).

The event brought together university leaders, partners, educators, and beneficiaries in a collective effort to promote social solidarity and humanitarian values through the annual qurban program. Among those in attendance were UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., and representatives from partner institutions, including PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Eduversal Foundation, Bank Jabar Banten Syariah (BJB Syariah), McDonald's Indonesia, DMH Management, Bank Mega Syariah, and Indonesia’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

In his remarks, Rector Prof. Asep described this year’s qurban program as an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration across the wider UIN Jakarta community, including schools, madrasahs, hospitals, foundations, and institutional partners.

“The spirit of qurban is not merely about distributing meat. It reflects devotion to God, compassion for humanity, and collective collaboration for the benefit of society. I appreciate the professionalism of the organizing committee and the innovations introduced in processing qurban meat, which I hope will position UIN Jakarta as a model for a modern, inclusive, and impactful qurban program,” he said.

The Rector also expressed gratitude to all contributors and partners who supported the initiative, including the President of the Republic of Indonesia, whose qurban donation formed part of this year’s program. He conveyed appreciation on behalf of the entire UIN Jakarta academic community for the support extended to the university.

Chairman of the UIN-QU Syahid 2026 Organizing Committee, Willy Oktaviano, Lc., M.A., explained that the sacrificial animals were donated through contributions from institutional partners and individual donors before being distributed across various locations within and around the university community.

According to Willy, UIN Jakarta received 22 cattle and 19 goats, while Madrasah Pembangunan UIN Jakarta received an additional 12 cattle and 15 goats for distribution through its own qurban activities.

He further noted that part of the qurban meat was processed into canned products to extend its reach and usability. The canned meat program utilized five cattle and two goats, while the remaining animals were distributed through conventional slaughtering and fresh meat distribution mechanisms.

To maximize community outreach, the qurban program was implemented across multiple locations, including UIN Jakarta’s Campuses I, II, and III, Fathullah Mosque, and the Cikuya area.

“We intentionally designated part of the program for communities around Cikuya. Today, we slaughtered 15 cattle, including six in Pamulang, six at Fathullah Mosque, and three cattle along with two goats at the Faculty of Medicine. Additional livestock were also processed at other designated locations,” he explained.

Through UIN-QU Syahid 2026, UIN Jakarta reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the spirit of qurban into a broader movement of social care, solidarity, and community service. By ensuring that the distribution of sacrificial meat reaches communities across different areas surrounding the university, the program seeks not only to provide direct assistance but also to strengthen the values of compassion, generosity, and shared responsibility that lie at the heart of Eid al-Adha.
