UIN Jakarta’s Yosakoi Team Became Champion in Little Tokyo

Jakarta, UIN News Online –Yosakoi Team of UIN Jakarta, Inazuma, successfully won the Runner-up title in 2018 Yosakoi contest, at Ennichisai event, Little Tokyo, Blok M Jakarta, Saturday (30/06/2018).

Ennichisai, Little Tokyo 2018 is a Japanese festival event held annually in Blok M, Jakarta. Inazuma Yosakoi is a yosakoi team from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta whose members consist of inter faculty students who are also members of Japanese communities in UIN Jakarta.

Yosakoi is a unique style of dance that originated in Japan and performed at festivals and events all over the country. The first Yosakoi festival was held in 1954 in Kochi. Yosakoi-style dancing has spread throughout much of Japan. The style of dance is highly energetic, combining traditional Japanese dance movements with modern music. The choreographed dances are often performed by large teams. Along with a number of professional yosakoi schools and town dance teams, yosakoi is also a popular event during the sports festivals held by Japanese elementary, junior, and senior high schools. Yosakoi participants include men and women of almost all ages, sometimes within a single team.

Inazuma Yosakoi UIN Jakarta succeeded in getting Runner Up along with Asobu Team from Dharma Persada University and the contest was won by a team from Japan. Inazuma Yosakoi UIN Jakarta itself hopes their victory can be a stepping stone for the better in the future, and can be widely known by the public.

Separately, Sub-division Head of Student Talent and Interest of UIN Jakarta M Trisno Riyadhi when met by UIN News Online team in his office, Monday, (07/09/2018) expressed his appreciation towards UIN Jakarta’s Yosakoi team. “This is an achievement that need to be proud of, this acquisition shows that the activities of UIN Jakarta students continue to carve out good achievements,” said Trisno.
