UIN Jakarta's Green Campus Program Receives Support from the Minister of Religious Affairs

Jakarta, UIN Online News - Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, highlighted the utilization of state-owned property to facilitate the establishment of a Green Campus at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and State Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKN) which is essential to provide supportive learning environment for students and other academic groups during campus events.

This proposal was discussed at a conference with the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Asep Saepudin Jahar and his delegation at the Central Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on Thursday (13/2/2025).

"State-owned land which belongs to the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Ciputat must be utilized sooner. If it remains unused for long period, it must be enclosed and its certificate must also be securely stored," Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar stated the importance of Green Campus' implementation.

Furthermore, he also proposed the establishment of green open space for students and the academic community to establish an eco-friendly campus.

"It could also be transformed into a garden, a relaxation area, or a recreational space to enhance the campus's comfort for students and faculty rather than leave it dusty," he added.

"Facilities must be properly maintained. If one requires repairment, then its funding must be proposed sooner," Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, warned that the existing facilities must stay in shape.

In conclusion, he anticipates that enhanced asset management would enable UIN Jakarta to progress and significantly contribute to the advancement of Islamic studies and human resources in Indonesia.

"Plan mapping for the development of UIN Jakarta has already been designed and multiple funding sources have already emerged to support the development of our campus facilities." Asep Saipudin Jahar, Rector of UIN Jakarta, mentioned UIN Jakarta's strategic development plan. 

In order to reduce dangerous carbon emission being exposed in open area, UIN Jakarta has now repositioned parking lot for fossil based vehicles, which was used to be around the faculties and rectorate building in the 1st Campus, to the very back of its campus. 

"Vehicle parking has been moved to the far field, and we provide electric buses on campus as an eco-friendly transportation alternative for students," Rector of UIN Jakarta explained the solution for students' mobility after this parking lot policy.

In addition, he stated UIN Jakarta's dedication to endors the tolerance based program and the love curriculum introduced by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. "We are ready to support the tolerance based program via the love curriculum established by the Ministry of Religious Affairsi nto the educational framework at UIN Jakarta" he added.
