UIN Jakarta's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Welcomes Future Diplomats Through 2026/2027 Admissions
Jakarta, UIN News Online — As UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta opens admissions for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) invites prospective students to pursue careers in diplomacy, politics, public policy, and social research through its dynamic and globally oriented academic programs. Located at Campus II in Ciputat, FISIP has become one of the university's flagship faculties, offering an academic environment that nurtures critical thinking, leadership, and international perspectives.
FISIP distinguishes itself through an interdisciplinary curriculum that integrates contemporary social and political theories with ethical and moral values. The faculty currently offers three undergraduate programs and two master's programs, each designed to prepare graduates for the increasingly complex challenges of national and global affairs.
Comprehensive Academic Programs
At the undergraduate (Bachelor's) level, FISIP offers:
- International Relations, focusing on diplomacy, global politics, and international security.
- Political Science, emphasizing political systems, elections, governance, and public policy.
- Sociology, concentrating on social structures, conflict studies, and the dynamics of digital society.
For postgraduate studies, the faculty provides:
- Master of Political Science, specializing in political research methodology, democratic theory, and transparent governance.
- Master of Sociology, focusing on critical analyses of contemporary social issues and societal transformation.
FISIP's curriculum is designed to sharpen students' analytical and problem-solving skills through courses such as International Political Economy, Islamic Political Thought, Urban Sociology, and Public Policy Analysis. The programs encourage students to understand complex political and social phenomena while developing practical solutions grounded in ethical values.
Under the leadership of Dean Prof. Dr. Dzuriyatun Toyibah, M.Si., M.A., FISIP is supported by an outstanding team of professors and nationally recognized scholars. Among them are Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Professor of Political Science; Prof. Burhanuddin Muhtadi, M.A., Ph.D., Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia; Prof. Dr. Saiful Mujani, M.A., founder of the Center for the Study of Islam and Society (PPIM); Prof. Iim Halimatusa'diyah, M.A., Ph.D., Director of Research at PPIM; Prof. Dr. Achmad Ubaedillah, M.A., Professor of Islamic Political History and Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam; Prof. Dr. H. Their extensive research, publications, and public engagement provide students with a rich academic experience rooted in both scholarship and practice.
For Sociology student Siti Fatimah Azzahra, choosing FISIP UIN Jakarta was inspired by the university's reputation as one of Indonesia's leading State Islamic Universities and by its vibrant academic atmosphere.
She noted that classroom discussions encourage students to think critically and engage deeply with contemporary social issues. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue a career as a Social Research Analyst, producing research that can support NGOs and international organizations in creating meaningful social change.
Graduates of FISIP enjoy diverse career opportunities in diplomacy, government, political consultancy, public policy, research institutions, international NGOs, and multinational organizations. Many alumni have gone on to serve as diplomats at Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, political analysts, social researchers, and policy consultants. Among the faculty's distinguished alumni is Adi Prayitno, M.I.P., a respected political analyst and lecturer whose insights are frequently featured in Indonesia's national media. FISIP alumni have also built successful careers in prestigious institutions such as the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Indonesia and the former Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI).
Unlike faculties specializing in Islamic studies, all FISIP programs fall under Indonesia's general higher education track. Prospective students may apply through the following admission routes:
- SNBP (National Selection Based on Academic Achievement)
- SNBT (National Selection Based on Computer-Based Test)
- UIN Jakarta Independent Admission (SPMB Mandiri)
