UIN Jakarta’s Faculty of Medicine, the Pioneer Medical School Among PTKINs, Opens 2026 Admissions to Develop Professional and Ethical Muslim Physicians

Faculty of Medicine, UIN Online News — As Indonesia’s first Faculty of Medicine within the State Islamic Universities (PTKIN) system, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta continues to strengthen its role in producing highly competent Muslim physicians through the integration of medical sciences, Islamic values, research excellence, and community service. Through the 2026 Student Admissions (PMB), the faculty invites prospective students to pursue medical education that combines scientific rigor with ethical and spiritual values.

Founded as the first medical education program in the PTKIN network, FK UIN Jakarta has consistently evolved into a leading center for medical education and research. The faculty is committed to preparing graduates who are academically outstanding, professionally competent, and capable of contributing to healthcare systems at both the national and international levels.

A Pioneer in Islamic Medical Education

The establishment of the Faculty of Medicine dates back to 2004, when UIN Jakarta officially launched the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK), offering four academic programs: Medicine, Public Health, Pharmacy, and Nursing. In 2018, following an organizational restructuring by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Faculty of Medicine became an independent faculty dedicated to the Bachelor of Medicine and Medical Doctor Professional Program.

Continuing its academic expansion, FK UIN Jakarta introduced its first Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine Specialist Program in 2024, followed in 2025 by the Master's Program in Biomedical Sciences and the Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Program, further strengthening its postgraduate medical education.

Accredited Excellence and International Recognition

The faculty's academic quality is reflected in its "Excellent" (Unggul) national accreditation for both the Bachelor of Medicine and the Medical Doctor Professional Program awarded by the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes). More recently, both programs also received full international accreditation from ASIIN (Germany) with the status "All Requirements Fulfilled," demonstrating that FK UIN Jakarta meets internationally recognized standards in outcome-based medical education.

Distinguished Faculty and Research Excellence

FK UIN Jakarta is supported by dozens of experienced academics and clinicians, including three full professors representing key areas of medical science:

  • Prof. Dr. Endah Wulandari, S.Si., M.Biomed. — Professor of Biochemistry
  • Prof. dr. Hari Hendarto, Ph.D., Sp.PD-KEMD. — Professor of Internal Medicine

Beyond academic training, FK UIN Jakarta places strong emphasis on student development and well-being. The faculty offers a bridging (matriculation) program for recipients of the Outstanding Santri Scholarship, providing intensive preparation in biology, chemistry, and physics to ensure a smooth transition into medical education.

In addition, the faculty established the Center for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (P3KS) in 2023, reaffirming its commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive academic environment for all members of its community.

Integrated Medical Education with Islamic Values

One of FK UIN Jakarta's defining characteristics is its curriculum, which integrates medical sciences with Islamic ethics and values. Students are trained not only to become competent physicians but also compassionate healthcare professionals who uphold integrity, professionalism, and humanitarian values throughout their careers.
