UIN Jakarta’s Faculty of Islamic Studies Secures International Accreditation from Germany’s ACQUIN

JAKARTA, UIN ONLINE NEWS – The Faculty of Islamic Studies (FDI) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has bolstered its global reputation by earning prestigious international accreditation from the Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN). The German-based agency, a key member of the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR), is widely recognized for its rigorous standards in multidisciplinary higher education.

Following an exhaustive audit, ACQUIN confirmed that both the Undergraduate and Graduate programs at FDI meet the highest benchmarks for global academic quality. The certification, formalized in a decree signed by ACQUIN Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Aloys Krieg, grants the faculty international standing through September 30, 2031.

Global Standards, Local Identity

For FDI, this achievement is more than just a formal badge; it is a validation of its unique educational model. Originally modeled after the renowned Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the faculty offers a rare synthesis of classical Islamic scholarship and contemporary Indonesian perspectives—all taught exclusively in Arabic.

Dean Dr. Yuli Yasin, M.A., emphasized that the accreditation reflects the faculty’s commitment to producing graduates who can compete on the world stage.

"This is a pivotal moment for us," Dr. Yasin stated. "It serves as concrete evidence that our specialized Islamic curriculum—while deeply rooted in tradition—operates under the same stringent quality assurance protocols as the world's leading universities."

A Comprehensive Excellence

The accreditation process involved a multi-dimensional evaluation that went far beyond the classroom. ACQUIN’s experts assessed several key pillars of the faculty, including:

  1. Academic Innovation: The depth and relevance of the current curriculum.

  2. Research Impact: The faculty’s productivity and contribution to global discourse.

  3. Operational Excellence: The efficiency of faculty governance and student support systems.

By aligning with ACQUIN and EQAR standards, UIN Jakarta ensures that its degrees are recognized and respected across the global higher education landscape, paving the way for greater international mobility for its students and faculty alike.
