UIN Jakarta Will Host Contemporary Islam Seminar
Rectorate, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta, in collaboration with the Australian Embassy will host seminar on Contemporary Islam in Indonesia and Australia, on Wednesday. (9/20/2017), at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) theatre, campus II of UIN Jakarta.
Based on media release obtained by UIN News Online, this event aims to show-case the Australian alumnis voices on the multi-dimensional facets of contemporary Islam in Indonesia and Australia.
This conference will cover 15 sub-themes, namely Diversity within Islam; Islam and development; Islam and science; Islam and business practice; Islam and culture; Islam and democracy; Islam and education; Islam and gender relations; Islam and higher learning; Islam and humanities; Islam and international relations; Islam and management; Islam and sustainable development; Islam and the challenge of pluralism; Islam in the media.
Keynote address will be delivered by Professor Mohamad Abdala (Director of the University of South Australia’s Centre for Islamic Thought and Education). He will be joined by Fahd Pahdepie (Monash Alumnus), Amelia Fauzia (Uni Melbourne alumnus and UNSW visiting Fellow), Nina Nurmila (Monash Alumnus), Noor Huda Ismail (Monash Alumnus), and Ismatu Ropi (ANU Alumnus). They will present their thoughts on the value of Islamic Education and the role of Islam in modern world. (usa)
