UIN Jakarta to Inaugurate Seven New Professors Across Diverse Academic Disciplines
Jakarta, UIN News Online — UIN Jakarta will inaugurate seven new professors during a formal Senate ceremony on 14 January 2026, marking a significant milestone in the University's continued efforts to strengthen research, scholarship, and academic leadership across a wide range of disciplines.
The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Harun Nasution Auditorium and bring together members of the University Senate, academic leaders, faculty members, invited guests, and institutional partners.
The newly appointed professors represent diverse fields of expertise, including political communication, applied biology (ecology), artificial intelligence, Islamic history and civilization, comparative Islamic constitutional law, human resource management in Islamic education, and Islamic philosophy.
The seven scholars to be inaugurated are:
- Prof. Gun Gun Heryanto – Political Communication
- Prof. Agus Salim – Applied Biology (Ecology)
- Prof. Husni Teja Sukmana – Artificial Intelligence
- Prof. M. Yakub – Islamic History and Civilization
- Prof. Mujar Ibnu Syarif – Comparative Islamic Constitutional Law
- Prof. Mahsusi – Human Resource Management in Islamic Education
- Prof. Kholid Al Walid – Islamic Philosophy
Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D. described the appointments as both an individual academic achievement and an institutional milestone.
"The appointment of a professor represents the highest level of academic recognition. It reflects not only scholarly excellence but also a lifelong commitment to advancing knowledge and contributing solutions to the challenges facing society," he said.
According to the Rector, the breadth of expertise represented by the new professors reflects UIN Jakarta's commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship, bringing together Islamic studies, science, technology, and the social sciences to address contemporary issues from multiple perspectives.
"We hope our newly inaugurated professors will continue to serve as leading scholars, inspire research excellence, uphold academic integrity, and contribute to evidence-based public policy, technological innovation, and the advancement of civilization," he added.
The inauguration of seven new professors further reinforces UIN Jakarta's position as one of Indonesia's leading Islamic universities, strengthening its capacity to generate impactful research, expand international academic collaboration, and contribute to national and global knowledge production.
