UIN Jakarta Successfully Resolved the Rectorate Building's Fire Incident
Rectorate Building - UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully extinguished a minor fire incident in the Rectorate Secretariat office, 2nd Floor of the Rectorate Building, Campus I, Monday morning, December 30, 2024. The assistance of the Fire and Rescue Service of South Jakarta City Government and South Tangerang City as well as the alertness of the campus safety protocol system has supported the settlement of the fire so that it did not spread.
Vice Rector for General Administration, Prof. Dr. Imam Subchi M.A. in a statement after the fire extinguishing revealed, a small fire occurred in the secretariat room on the 2nd floor of the Rectorate Building of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The fire allegedly appeared around 6:30 a.m. and damaged office facilities in the Rectorate Secretariat area.
“Thanks to the assistance of the South Jakarta City and South Tangerang City Fire Departments and the readiness of the safety protocol system and the internal rapid response of the aid campus, the fire was completely extinguished within 30 minutes, exactly at 07.00 WIB,” he explained.
In this extinguishing, he continued, the Fire and Rescue Service of South Jakarta City and South Tangerang City deployed at least 10 units of fire trucks. The officers and campus employees then worked together to extinguish the fire.
“Thanks to the good cooperation between the firefighting team and internal officers of UIN Jakarta, the fire can be handled without causing significant damage to the building facilities,” he added.
“Alhamdulillah, no significant damage resulted. We are very grateful for the quick assistance from the Fire Brigade Unit of South Jakarta City and South Tangerang City,” he said again.
Thanks to the support of related agencies and the university's internal system, the fire also did not cause significant damage, either casualties or damage to major facilities. “Activities in the campus environment, Inshallah, will continue to run normally, both employees, lecturers, and employees can still do their activities as usual," he added.
Warek Imam added that the fire incident showed the importance of safety protocol readiness in the campus environment. “The existing safety system, including smoke detectors and evacuation measures as well as the support of the local Fire Department is an important unit in anticipating incidents like this,” he explained.
Furthermore, Warek Imam added, UIN Jakarta is committed to continuously improving building safety standards and providing a sense of security for all academicians and the public. “Priority is given to the evaluation and improvement of the security system to prevent similar incidents in the future,” he concluded.
