In addition to UIN Jakarta, several other universities were invited to the same activity. Among them are the University of Indonesia, Jakarta State University, Prof. Dr. Hamka Muhammadiyah University, and Al-Azhar University Indonesia.

The UIN Jakarta team itself was led by Faculty of Adab and Humanities lecturer, Dr. Rizqi Handayani, M.A. She directly participated in the UIN Jakarta team as many as 19 selected students from the Arabic Language and Literature (BSA), Tarjamah, and Master of Arabic Language and Literature (MBSA) study programs.

Dr. Rizqi expressed his pride for UIN Jakarta's participation, especially the contribution of the students involved. According to him, this activity is important to be a valuable experience for students to contribute directly to the development of Indonesian language through technology.

“I hope this experience can improve their skills as well as broaden their horizons about the importance of language preservation and renewal,” said Dr. Rizqi.

The SIPEBI 2024 Update Consignment itself took place in three stages. The first stage was held on October 21-25 at Pullman Hotel Jakarta Central Park, the second stage on November 4-8 at Sultan Hotel Jakarta, and the third and final stage on November 19-22 at AONE Hotel Jakarta.

It is known that SIPEBI is a spelling editing application developed by the Language Agency since its launch on October 28, 2021 which continues to be refined until now. This application is designed to detect and correct various writing errors, such as non-standard forms according to KBBI, ambiguous words, bound forms, conjunctions, capitalization, and affix rules in Indonesian.

During the activity, each participant checked thousands of entries that were already available in the SIPEBI application. The involvement of students in this process is expected to optimize the function of SIPEBI as an automatic Indonesian text editing tool.

At the closing of the third consignment, Ian Kamajaya, one of the SIPEBI developers, expressed his gratitude to the participants. He mentioned that the names of the students involved will be listed as contributors in SIPEBI and the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI).

“I appreciate the spirit of the students who have completed the task faster than expected,” Ian said on Friday (11/22/2024).
