UIN Jakarta Students Deliver Eid al-Fitr Sermon in South Korea

Seoul, UIN Online News—Students of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again achieved a proud international service accomplishment. Raghib Muhammad Sakho, a student of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, was entrusted to deliver the Eid al-Fitr sermon at Darussalam Baran Mosque, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, on the 1st of Shawwal 1445 Hijriah, corresponding to April 10, 2024.
In addition to serving as the sermon deliverer, Raghib also served as the tarawih prayer leader throughout the month of Ramadan 1445 Hijriah. Raghib's highly commendable community service was carried out during the International Work Lecture (KKN) program in South Korea along with his colleague Muhammad Hanif Abiyyu Handana, a student of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at UIN Jakarta. These two students conducted International KKN organized by the Community Service Center (PPM) of UIN Jakarta from March 23 to April 21, 2024.
Raghib stated that his other KKN tasks while in South Korea included teaching tahsin or Quranic recitation improvement for Indonesian communities in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. "The participants were very enthusiastic about learning Islam at Darussalam Mosque," Raghib said.
In addition to KKN, Hanif added, he learned a lot about the lives of Indonesian and South Korean communities, as well as other foreigners living in South Korea. "During our time in South Korea, we, along with the Indonesian Community at Darussalam Baran Mosque, enlivened the nights of Ramadan," said this International Relations student.
The Chairman of the Board or Amir of Darussalam Mosque, Arif Fauzi, stated that this International KKN activity was highly beneficial for the Indonesian community residing in the Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, and surrounding areas. "Raghib and Hanif easily interacted and blended in with the community here," said Arif Fauzi.
The Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar M.A. Ph.D., revealed that International KKN is part of the University's Tri Dharma, which is Community Service. "This International KKN is part of UIN Jakarta's internationalization," said the Rector.
The Head of the Community Service Center (PPM) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Ade Rina Farida, stated that International KKN is a community service activity on a global scale. "This International KKN provides both experience and service abroad," said Ade Rina.
The Coordinator of International KKN, Deden Mauli Darajat, stated that the International KKN program has been running for three years. "In 2022, after the Covid-19 Pandemic, UIN Jakarta opened the International KKN program in four countries: South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia.
