UIN Jakarta Student Took Part in Literacy Presentation

FAH, UIN News Online – Student of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), Vivi Uliana took part in a Literacy Presentation competition in commemoration of Hanjaba (Jakarta Children's Read Day) 2018 organized by the DKI Jakarta Dispusip (Library and Archives Service).

Vivi, whose daily life as a student of the FAH Library Science also has a myriad of responsibilities outside, namely as a manager of Kampung Buku, and Taman Bac Mandiri  Kampung Buku in Cibubur, East Jakarta.

"This Book Village is a built area, in which the importance of literacy is promoted for life. There is also a Community Reading Park (TBM), "Vivi said when met at the FAH Lobby (21/09/18). In addition to the TBM, the Kampung Buku Team also has a "Gowes Literasi" program that brings books to crowded places in the book village with bicycle media.

The competition which was held in Taman Ismail Marzuki, Cikini received great appreciation from DKI Governor Anies Rasyid Baswedan who attended at the same time inaugurating the Hanjaba event. Vivi competed against participants from other reading parks who were quite competent in the field of literacy. In the competition, Vivi presented about his excellent program, Gowes Literasi, in her presentation Vivi also said that Kampung Baca Team had received an award from Original Record Indonesia on Aksara 2017 Day by cycling from Cibubur to Kuningan West Java, not stopping there, the Kampung Buku Team collaborated with Scouts and red cross sending someone to ride bicycles from Sabang to Marauke, from Miangas Island to Rote Island on March 11 2018 yesterday and is expected to finish in 2020, covering a distance of 15,000 KM for 700 days.

Although in this competition Vivi was not lucky, she still advised literacy activists not to stop spreading reading culture, "Each TBM has its own characteristics, so don't consider this defeat as the end. I consider this event as part of knowledge sharing, from here I learned about the 6 literacy bases launched by the World Economic Forum in 2015, this is new knowledge that I got and I am aware that there is no word to stop learning,” she said (usa-rs)
