UIN Jakarta Strengthens Academic Ties with International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, UIN Online News — A delegation from Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta paid an official visit to the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan (IIAU) in Tashkent on Saturday (26/10/2025). The visit was part of the Indonesia–Uzbekistan Cultural and Collaboration Week, held from October 24 to November 1, 2025, across three major cities: Tashkent, Bukhara, and Samarkand.
During the meeting, the UIN Jakarta delegation was warmly received by Prof. Kamilov Muzaffar Muratovich, Rector of IIAU. He expressed his appreciation for UIN Jakarta’s visit and reaffirmed IIAU’s commitment to strengthening academic relations between the two institutions, particularly in the fields of Islamic scholarship, joint research, and academic exchange.
“Uzbekistan and Indonesia share a long-standing history in the Islamic intellectual tradition. We hope this collaboration will give rise to concrete programs that enhance knowledge exchange and academic partnership between our universities,” said Prof. Kamilov.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Uzbekistan, Prof. Dr. Hj. Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin, M.A., also delivered her remarks, emphasizing that UIN Jakarta’s presence in Uzbekistan represents a form of academic and cultural diplomacy. She noted that the partnership between higher education institutions in both countries has enormous potential to foster joint research, faculty and student exchange programs, and the promotion of religious moderation.
Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Prof. Ismatu Ropi, M.A., Ph.D., expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by IIAU and the support provided by the Indonesian Embassy in Tashkent. He conveyed that the visit marks an important step in expanding UIN Jakarta’s international network and strengthening its position in global academic collaboration.
The meeting also featured the official opening ceremony of the Indonesia–Uzbekistan Cultural and Collaboration Week, symbolized by the striking of a gong by the Rector of IIAU, the Indonesian Ambassador, and the Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin. The session continued with an engaging discussion exploring opportunities for collaboration in Islamic studies, hadith research, and the promotion of religious moderation within academic environments.
