UIN Jakarta Signs an MoU With BP2MI

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online — UIN Jakarta held a Public Lecture, Cooperation Signing, and the Release of KKN 2024 themed "Improving the Quality of Indonesian Migrant Workers Based on Community Service and the Role of Higher Education" at Harun Nasution Auditorium on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

The event aimed to equip the 2024 UIN Jakarta KKN students with the necessary knowledge and skills to help improve the quality of life for Indonesian migrant workers. During the event, an MoU was signed between UIN Jakarta and the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), and 5500 students were officially released for the 2024 UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Regular KKN.

The event was attended by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., Head of BP2MI, Benny Rhamdani, Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M) UIN Jakarta, Prof. Amelia Fauzia, Ph.D., Head of the Community Service Center (PPM) UIN Jakarta, Ade Rina Farida, M.Si., and all the 2024 UIN Jakarta KKN students.

In her speech, Head of PPM UIN Jakarta, Ade Rina Farida, M.Si., emphasized the importance of this activity for the 2024 KKN participants, as it not only serves as preparation and release but also as a migrant worker socialization by BP2MI. "This is a relevant activity as a provision for the KKN participants, having a positive impact both nationally and internationally," she said.

Head of LP2M UIN Jakarta, Prof. Amelia Fauzia, Ph.D., stated that KKN is proof of devotion to the country. This year, there are 5500 KKN participants also collaborating with international parties. "This year's KKN will reach various migrant worker locations. The MoU signing between UIN Jakarta and BP2MI will assist KKN students in learning about migrant worker advocacy and addressing existing social issues," she said.

Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., signed the MoU with the Head of BP2MI and also signed the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Head of PPM UIN Jakarta. In his speech, he mentioned that cooperation with BP2MI is essential to convey views on migrant workers and KKN preparation that will be spread across various regions. "Hopefully, students can prepare mentally and physically, collaborate, and serve the community," he concluded.

The event continued with the screening of a video on the government's commitment to protecting Indonesian migrant workers, followed by a public lecture by Benny Rhamdani. A lively Q&A session, a panel discussion by BP2MI and UIN Jakarta, and send-off ceremony for 5500 KKN Participants by the Rector of UIN Jakarta and the Head of BP2MI marked the end of the event, concluding with a group photo.
