UIN Jakarta Sends 5500 KKN Participants to Five Countries and 237 Villages

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online - UIN Jakarta officially sent over 5500 students to undertake community service (KKN) program in 2024, spread across five countries and 237 villages in various regions of Indonesia.

The 2024 KKN participants were officially sent off by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Professor Asep Saepudin Jahar, at the Harun Nasution Auditorium of UIN Jakarta on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. "Best of luck, stay healthy, take care of everything, and let's open this event together by reciting 'Bismillahirrahmanirrahim'," said Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar.

Prof. Asep inaugurated the departure while also providing guidance to UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta students who will carry out KKN in various regions of Indonesia and even abroad. "You will conduct KKN in various areas in Indonesia, which I hope will mentally prepare you to collaborate and share experiences and knowledge," he said.

In his briefing, Prof. Asep emphasized that UIN Jakarta students must implement Islamic values, politeness, and harmony in interacting with fellow students and the communities in the KKN locations.

On the same occasion, Head of Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Jakarta, Prof. Amelia Fauzia mentioned that besides students conducting KKN abroad, UIN Jakarta's KKN also collaborates with the Social Trust Fund (STF), bringing international students to collaborate with UIN Jakarta students in Cidokom Village, Bogor Regency.

Moreover, the KKN program does not only involve community service; students, in collaboration with field supervisors (DPL), are also tasked with conducting research to produce scientific publications based on the KKN program's implementation in their respective locations. "The international KKN is ready to commence, and besides each group having flagship projects, they will also publish works that can be co-authored with field supervisors," said Professor Amelia.

Ade Rina Farida, Head of PPM UIN Jakarta, stated that the 2024 KKN program of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta would be located in five regencies or cities around the campus. "This year's KKN will be conducted in several areas: Bogor, Tangerang, Lebak, Pandeglang, and South Tangerang, spread across 237 villages or sub-districts," said Ade Rina.

In addition to conducting KKN near the campus, the 2024 KKN program will also be held in five countries: South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia. "This year's international KKN will send students to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia," she said.

During the 2024 KKN departure event at UIN Jakarta, a public lecture was also given by the Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), Benny Rhamdani, highlighting the cooperation between both parties. Benny Rhamdani invited UIN Jakarta KKN participants to help promote migrant worker protection and employment opportunities to the communities in the KKN villages.

"For any group proposing a migrant worker protection socialization program to BP2MI, we will allocate a budget of IDR 50,000,000 for 200 participants, and if the number of participants reaches 400, we will provide a budget of IDR 100,000,000," said Benny.

The 2024 KKN program of UIN Jakarta is organized in five countries, five regencies/cities, and in collaboration with universities in Lombok and Yogyakarta. Additionally, UIN Jakarta is delegating students to participate in the National KKN in Ambon, Maluku, the Religious Moderation KKN in Kuningan, West Java, and the Collaborative KKN in North Sumatra.
