UIN Jakarta Secures Triguna Utama School Buildings to Safeguard State Assets
South Tangerang, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta continues its efforts to safeguard state-owned assets valued at hundreds of billions of rupiah that, according to the university, should have long been under its management. The latest asset secured comprises the buildings of Triguna Utama Senior High School (SMA) and Vocational High School (SMK), located adjacent to the university's main campus on Jl. Ir. H. Juanda, Ciputat Timur, South Tangerang.
The asset recovery follows the issuance of Minister of Religious Affairs Decree (KMA) No. 1543 of 2025, which mandates the integration of educational institutions previously managed under a foundation into the Public Service Agency (BLU) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
The integration covers institutional governance, financial management, assets, and human resources, while guaranteeing the protection of employees' rights and welfare. According to the university, the policy is intended to strengthen educational quality through improved governance under the BLU management system.
The physical securing of the SMA and SMK Triguna Utama buildings was carried out several days ago.
Head of the Center for Public Relations and Legal Assistance, Ishar Helmi, stressed that the measure was not taken abruptly but followed numerous attempts to resolve the matter through dialogue.
"This action was not taken suddenly. We had held several meetings beforehand, but the foundation showed no intention of implementing the Ministerial Decree," Ishar said in an official statement, quoted on Wednesday (18 March 2026).
He explained that since the ministerial decree was issued, UIN Jakarta has consistently sought to implement the government's decision within the framework of integrating educational institutions under the university.
"Securing the state assets represented by the Triguna Utama schools is one of the strategic measures mandated by the Minister of Religious Affairs as part of the institutional integration process," he added.
Ishar also emphasized that the asset protection process would not disrupt teaching and learning activities at either the senior high school or vocational high school.
In addition to the approximately 3,000-square-meter school complex, UIN Jakarta stated that it had previously secured several other Triguna-related assets, including land located in MURI Salim, Reni Jaya, and Cogreg.
The university is currently implementing the integration of three educational institutions into the BLU of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta:
- Triguna Utama Senior High School (SMA) and Vocational High School (SMK)
- Madrasah Pembangunan (MI, MTs, and MA)
- TK Ketilang
According to the university, all three institutions were originally established by UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, with the total value of the assets involved estimated to reach hundreds of billions of rupiah.
Historical Background
The relationship between UIN Jakarta and Triguna Utama dates back to 1997, when the Triguna Foundation was established under Minister of Religious Affairs Decree No. 56 of 1997, appointing the Rector of what was then IAIN Jakarta as the administrator of the former YPMII schools.
In 1998, a notarial deed issued by Notary Toety designated the Rector of IAIN Jakarta as the foundation's supervisory board chair.
A significant legal milestone occurred in 2017, when UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta won a legal dispute against Nurdin Idris after litigation financed through the university's BLU funds. In the same year, the court ordered the return of the Triguna Utama school buildings to UIN Jakarta as evidence previously involved in the legal proceedings.
Subsequently, the Tangerang District Court, through Decision No. 779/Pdt.P/2018/PN-Tng dated 26 November 2018, affirmed that the management of the foundation falls under the authority of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, represented by UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
According to the university, however, since 2019, the Rector of UIN Jakarta has no longer served as Chair of the Foundation's Supervisory Board, following changes that occurred during the leadership of former Rector Prof. Dede Rosyada.
