UIN Jakarta Scouts carry out Community Development in Parung

Parung, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta Scouts conducted Community Development (Bimas) activities in Waru Jaya Village, Parung, Bogor, West Java, on 4-10 July 2022. This activity is an annual routine agenda involving Pandega Scouts to serve the community.

The opening ceremony was held on Monday (07/04/2022) by the Head of Waru Jaya Village, Udin Syamsudin. Also present in the event Chair of the Gugus Depan Nanang Syaikhu, coach of Pandega Scouts Saidah, as well as a number of community leaders.

“I hope this activity will give a lot of motivation to our  residents, especially young people, to be more active and creative,” said Udin in his opening remarks.

Meanwhile, Chair of the Gugus Depan Nanang Syaikhu in his speech said that the Bimas program was a form of community service for the Scouts of UIN Jakarta. This is in accordance with the characteristics of Pandega Scouts activities which must be community oriented.

Pandega Scouts, Nanang explained, must be able to become agents of change in society. Therefore, he hopes that Bimas activities can be a medium for UIN Jakarta Scouts to devote themselves to the community according to their knowledge, skills, and experience.

“Bimas activities can also be a means for social and organizational learning to Scout members,” said Nanang.

The activity will last until July 10, 2022. The Bimas agenda includes educating the public in the fields of education, religion, social, health, and economics.

The acivities will take place in the form of seminars, training, games, competitions, bazaars, and social services. While the target of the activity is parents, youth, and children.

The chairman of the Dewan Racana Pandega Putra, M. Rizalludin Hizza, said that during the activity, they will do a homestay at a resident's house. They mingle with the community, both in their daily activities and other activities.

“This activity model was chosen because we want to teach the participants to live in a community. They come from the community and will eventually return to the community,” he said. (ns/usa)
