UIN Jakarta Responds to Viral Incident, Citing Absolute Legal Mandate to Secure State Property

JAKARTA, UIN Online News – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has released an official statement addressing a viral incident that occurred at the Pembangunan Islamic School complex in Pamulang, South Tangerang, on Thursday, June 4, 2026. The incident, which involved a physical standoff between university delegates and former school operators, was clarified during an institutional press briefing.

The Vice Rector for General Administration, Prof. Imam Subchi, stated that the conflict was entirely unnecessary, clarifying that the university's delegation arrived strictly to conduct a standard site visitation and introduce administrative changes regarding the foundation's corporate structure.

"The structural modifications within the foundation managing these educational units have been legally executed and are officially registered under the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (AHU) of the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia," Prof. Subchi stated during the press conference on Friday, June 5, 2026.

According to him, the corporate amendments ratified in the state database on May 13 hold binding legal authority, placing the foundation's governance entirely under the jurisdiction of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Beyond corporate restructuring, the university administration reiterated that the land plots and structural facilities occupied by the schools are certified state-owned assets (BMN). These properties are fully registered under the central government’s automated tracking networks, specifically the State Asset Management Information System (SIMAN) and the State Asset Accounting System (SIMAK-BMN).

Consequently, Prof. Subchi noted that there is zero administrative or statutory ambiguity regarding the state's absolute ownership of the properties.

To audit the physical condition of these multi-billion rupiah state assets, the university dispatched an official team to the location. However, the delegation encountered physical obstruction from unrecognized factions that the university asserts lack proper legal standing or ownership claims over the properties.

"We deemed a direct physical inspection necessary due to conflicting public accounts regarding the management of these assets. It is highly regrettable that our delegation faced physical resistance upon arrival," Prof. Subchi remarked.

The university leadership emphasized that securing these assets is a serious fiduciary duty rather than a mere administrative exercise. Failing to secure state property that is currently occupied by unverified entities would yield severe punitive findings from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK RI) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Inspectorate General.

"Our field actions directly execute the formal recommendations issued by the BPK and the Inspectorate General. We will continue to secure these state properties through precise legal mechanisms and procedural pathways," he added.

Institutional Foundations and Historical Surrender

Providing further legal context, UIN Jakarta’s corporate counsel, Alwanih, explained that the foundations running these laboratory schools have maintained an institutional link to the central government through UIN Jakarta since their inception. The corporate charter stipulates that the Board of Trustees chair is held ex-officio by the active Rector of UIN Jakarta.

"The restructuring of the foundation's board was executed in total compliance with corporate law and successfully registered in the Ministry of Law's AHU system. Therefore, the new management stands on solid legal ground," Alwanih explained.

Adding to the legal defense, Sholeh, co-counsel for the Rector, challenged opposing parties to present counter-documentation. "UIN Jakarta is operating within absolute legal boundaries because we hold verified state certifications. If other parties claim ownership or a right to govern the Board of Trustees, they must present their statutory documentation to the public," Sholeh asserted.

This position was fully validated by Prof. Dede Rosyada, Rector of UIN Jakarta for the 2015–2019 period, who confirmed that the previous management had systematically surrendered the operational assets and institutional governance to the state through UIN Jakarta.

"Both the Triguna and Syarif Hidayatullah foundations have formally handed over their institutional governance to the government through UIN Jakarta, following verified administrative and legal protocols," Prof. Rosyada confirmed.

Despite ongoing local friction, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta announced it will remain focused on upgrading regional educational quality, integrating foundation operations into the state system, and protecting public assets to ensure continuous educational services for the community.
