UIN Jakarta ready to synergize with central and regional government
Rectorate, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta ready to collaborate with central and regional government authorities to tackle the current COVID-19 outbreak. This was said by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis during the e-meeting with the Mayor of South Tangerang City Airin Rachmy Diani on Tuesday (03/24/2020).
“UIN Jakarta is ready to coordinate with other elements in the government to secure the community and also face this emergency situation,” said Rector
According to the Rector, all academic community of UIN Jakarta will support the South Tangerang City Government in taking the necessary steps to overcome the spread of this virus. At the meeting, Airin specifically requested the readiness of all elements in the South Tangerang city in dealing with this condition.
“To ensure our safety and wellbeing, Bu Airin also asked us to limit social contact and avoid crowded places. This is an attempt to cut the spread of the virus,” she said.
Aside from synergizing with the South Tangerang City Government, UIN Jakarta has also coordinated with the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA). MORA disbursed IDR 2 Billion and various medical supplies from the Indonesian Waqf Board, the Hajj Financial Management Agency, the National Amil Zakat Agency, and other units within the Ministry of Religion.
This assistance was delivered directly by the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Fachrul Razi during his visit to the UIN Jakarta campus and Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital.
Furthermore, The Chancellor also stated that UIN Jakarta itself had temporarily closed the academic administration service from March 20-31, 2020. The entire learning process has also been diverted by the online method or the Distance Learning mode.
A number of faculties and study programs are also required to actively participate in providing information that can be shared with academic community and the public. “UIN Jakarta encourages and educates the public so that they can adopt a healthy lifestyle. Including how to handle and report if any COVID-19 symptoms are found,” said Amany.
Even FIKES, through its Pharmacy Laboratory, produces special hand washing soap or hand sanitizer according to World Health Organization (WHO) standards. “Made from ethanol, glycerol, and hydrogen peroxide, this hand sanitizer product called 'Shihah' has been widely distributed to academic community and general public,” said the Dean of FIKES UIN Jakarta Zilhadia to UIN News Online.
Social Trust Fund (STF) UIN Jakarta STF UIN Jakarta also played an active role by distributing hand sanitizers from a number of donors, including hand sanitizer products from FIKES UIN Jakarta. Later, STF UIN Jakarta also raised public donations for the provision of medical supplies for various hospitals.
The Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital (RSSH) also is also on alert by increasing the readiness of its staff and medical infrastructure to face the COVID-19 pandemic. (usa/yd/zm)
