UIN Jakarta ready to develop Mount Kubing area
Belitung, UIN News Online – Research team from five faculties at UIN Jakarta conducted a survey and field research regarding the planned development of the Gunung Kubing Geosite and Geopark on Belitung Island. Friday-Sunday (November 5-7, 2021).
Led directly by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis, the team consisted of researchers from the Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), and Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Studies (FDIK). In addition, they are also assisted by a number of information technology experts from the Center for Information Technology and Databases (Pustipanda) and the Cooperation and Institutional Development division of UIN Jakarta.
To UIN News Online, Sunday (11/07/2021), Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis said that in addition to assist the development of the Gunung Kubing area, UIN Jakarta also signed an MoU with the Belitung Regency Government and the East Belitung Regency Government.
“We will develop the full potential of Gunung Kubing. We will also design how researchers from these various faculties can play a role in the development of the Gunung Kubing according to their respective capacities,” she said.
For example, Fikes will develop the health sector for the surrounding population, FAH will study manuscripts regarding the historical development of the entry of Islam in Belitung Island, and FST will focus on developing geosites and geoparks.
Meanwhile, the East Belitung Regent Burhanuddin said that the Gunung Kubing area attracted academics and students. Currently, many students from various regions outside Belitung Island have visited the area for Community Service activitites (KKN).
“In addition, there are many academics who conduct research on the history of the development of Islam and other religions here,” said Burhanuddin.
Mount Kubing is located in Perpat Village, Membalong District, Belitung Regency. With an altitude of 325 meters above sea level, Mount Kubing will present many interesting things for tourists. It takes 40 minutes to reach Mount Kubing from Tanjung Pandan, the capital city of Belitung Regency. (usa/ns).
