UIN Jakarta PPB Instructors Win Prestigious Fulbright FLTA 2025 Awards, Set to Teach Indonesian in the US
Rectorate Building, UIN Online News – Two Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) instructors from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's Center for Language Development (PPB) have successfully secured the prestigious Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Award for 2025. The recipients are Devi Nurhayati, S.S., M.Hum., and Fakhri Fauzi, S.S., M.Hum.
Devi Nurhayati will begin her duties as an Indonesian language teaching assistant at Northern Illinois University starting August 18, 2025. Fakhri Fauzi, meanwhile, will serve at one of the world's leading universities, Harvard University, commencing August 15, 2025.
The Fulbright FLTA is a highly regarded international program managed by the United States Government, offering foreign language instructors the opportunity to teach and deepen their cultural and academic understanding at various U.S. universities for one academic year. The selection of these two BIPA PPB instructors also affirms the recognition of the competence and quality of BIPA educators from Indonesia, particularly from UIN Jakarta's Center for Language Development.
Head of UIN Jakarta's Center for Language Development, Kustiwan, Ph.D., expressed his appreciation and gratitude for this achievement.
"Please allow me to share information regarding international recognition. Alhamdulillah, two BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers) instructors from PPB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta have received Fulbright FLTA scholarships to teach Indonesian at Harvard University and Northern Illinois University,” he revealed.
He added that this achievement is not only the result of hard work but also a manifestation of the dedication and competence of the BIPA instructors, serving as clear evidence that PPB UIN Jakarta possesses top-tier educators capable of competing on the global stage.
This success not only brings honor to PPB and UIN Jakarta but also strengthens Indonesian cultural diplomacy through language. The program further expands international networks, both institutionally and personally, which is highly strategic for academic and institutional development.
