UIN Jakarta Political Communication Expert Selected as Panelist for 2024 DKI Jakarta Election Debate
Jakarta, UIN News Online - The Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) announced seven panelists who will be involved in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada Debate. The seven panelists chosen are said to be in accordance with their respective expertise and consist of various elements of the scientific field. Political communication expert at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, as well as Dean of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM), Dr. Gun Gun Heryanto M.Si. was chosen as one of the panelists in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada Debate with the debate theme “Strengthening Human Resources and Transformation into a Global City”, held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta on Sunday (6/10/2024).

“For the first debate, there will be seven panelists from various scientific fields,” said Head of the Socialization, Voter Education and Public Participation Division of the Jakarta KPU, Astri Megatari, when met at her office, Thursday, October 3, 2024.
The Jakarta KPU has also set the theme for the first debate of the Jakarta Pilkada. Astri revealed that the theme taken was “Strengthening Human Resources and Transformation into a Global City”. Through this theme, Astri hopes that the pairs of candidates for governor and deputy governor can skin various programs for Jakarta.
“How then can the candidate pairs have programs for women, children, marginalized people and disabilities,” said Astri, while mentioning, ”How do these candidate pairs present their vision and mission regarding Jakarta which is no longer the capital city, but the direction is a global city.”
The first Jakarta 2024 regional election debate was held as an arena for candidate pairs (paslon) to debate their ideas in formulating a vision for Jakarta in the future.
As a panelist, Dr. Gun Gun served as a strategic questioner for each candidate, helping to dig deeper into their thoughts and ideas to strengthen human resources and realize Jakarta as a global city.
Dr. Gun Gun Heryanto M.Si, was born in Cianjur, West Java, August 12, 1976. He received his undergraduate education at the Department of Islamic Broadcasting Communication, Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. He earned his Master of Science (M.Si) degree from the Department of Communication Science, FISIP, University of Indonesia. Now he serves as Dean of the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He is known as a political communication expert from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta. He was also once lined up as a panelist for the 2024 Presidential Election Prime Debate.
