UIN Jakarta Opens Research-Based Community Service Grant Program

Jakarta, UIN Online News — The Center for Community Engagement (PPM) under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has launched a research-based community service grant program for academic staff, with a total funding allocation of up to Rp4.567 billion. The program was officially introduced during an online socialization session held via Zoom on Tuesday (7 April 2026), attended by lecturers from various faculties across the university.

The grant program reflects UIN Jakarta's commitment to strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in advancing research-driven community engagement that delivers tangible benefits to society. By encouraging community service initiatives grounded in academic research, the university aims to foster innovative solutions to real societal challenges while simultaneously enhancing scholarly development and academic excellence.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Amelia Fauzia, Ph.D., Head of LP2M UIN Jakarta, expressed appreciation for the university leadership's strong support for the initiative. She emphasized that research-based community service has become an increasingly important component of academic work, offering meaningful contributions to both society and the professional development of lecturers.

She explained that the program provides several funding schemes ranging from Rp50 million to Rp90 million per proposal. In addition, LP2M will offer proposal development assistance to help applicants prepare submissions that comply with the required technical guidelines.

"We greatly appreciate the full support of the university leadership for this initiative. Research-based community engagement is now receiving greater recognition because it not only benefits society but also strengthens lecturers' academic development. Therefore, we have prepared various funding schemes and mentoring programs to help ensure that submitted proposals meet all required standards," she said.

Meanwhile, Ade Rina Farida, M.Si., Head of PPM UIN Jakarta, welcomed the significant increase in this year's grant budget. She stressed that all lecturers are eligible to apply, provided that their proposals comply with the applicable regulations and technical requirements. She also reminded participants that all submissions will undergo an external review process conducted by Litapdimas of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, making originality an essential requirement.

"We are grateful that this year's community service grant allocation has increased substantially. We sincerely appreciate the university leadership's commitment to strengthening the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Since every proposal will be reviewed by Litapdimas reviewers, submissions must be genuinely original and should not simply copy content generated by artificial intelligence," she explained.

The session continued with a technical presentation delivered by Eva Khuzaeva, M.Si., Coordinator of UIN Jakarta's Community Service Program (KKN), who outlined the six thematic funding clusters available under the scheme. These include community engagement through educational institutions, religious organizations, community organizations, and religious moderation; projects focusing on ecotheology, renewable energy, disaster mitigation, and public health; empowerment initiatives in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions; collaborative community service involving universities and government institutions; international collaborative community service; and initiatives conducted within the university's designated community development areas.

The grant program aligns with Indonesia's national development agenda as well as the strategic priorities of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, particularly in strengthening the role of higher education institutions as agents of social transformation. Through this initiative, UIN Jakarta expects to generate innovative, research-based community engagement projects that bridge academic expertise with the practical needs of society while producing sustainable and meaningful impacts for communities across Indonesia.
