UIN Jakarta must develop a campus based on big data
Ciputat, UIN News Online – Frofessor at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Jakarta Azyumardi Azra hopes that UIN Jakarta can become a "big data" based campus. This is important in the effort to make UIN Jakarta as a competitive campus in the information technology era.
“The need to be based on big data, said Azra, is none other than responding to advances in information technology. Especially now that we are in the era of 4.0 and the industrial revolution,” said Azra on Tuesday (02/22/2022).
Azra also said that UIN Jakarta is on a par with other public PTNs. Currently, UIN Jakarta has progressed by obtaining many good rankings and achievements, both at the national and international levels.
The progress and development of UIN Jakarta is not only institutional but also but also the capacity of its human resources (HR), such as lecturers and education staff.
“Currently, there are many qualified UIN Jakarta lecturers who have made it into various rankings, both as writers and researchers. We must be grateful for this progress,” he said.
Regarding UIN Jakarta's effort to transform into a Legal Entity PTN, Azra said that in principle it is quite good because it can provide flexibility for PTN to open and close study programs. PTN Legal Entities can also appoint qualified lecturers from within and outside the country.
However, he said, Azra also reminded that PTN Legal Entities could have an impact on increasing tuition fees.
Therefore, Azra suggested that if it had been transformed into a Legal Entity PTN, these cost increases would not occur at UIN Jakarta. Because, since its establishment, UIN Jakarta is expected to become a "people's campus", a campus to educate and raise students to become Islamic scholars and intellectuals.
However, Azra is also optimistic and fully supports the transformation of UIN Jakarta into a Legal Entity PTN. However, once again, he hopes that tuition fees at UIN Jakarta are not as expensive as other campuses. (ns/usa)
