UIN Jakarta Marks Its 68 Years with Strategic Programs and Global Achievements

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta held an Open Senate Session to celebrate its 68th Anniversary under the theme “Strengthening Global Reputation Toward Indonesia Emas 2045” at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Wednesday (24/9/2025).

In his remarks, UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., outlined four strategic programs as a key moment for UIN Jakarta to reaffirm its position as a world-class Islamic university.

“Starting from the development of a Green Campus based on eco-theology, digital transformation, bureaucratic reform, and entrepreneurial independence through our dedicated business center. These initiatives align with the policy directions of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Indonesian government,” he stated.

The Rector also highlighted UIN Jakarta’s academic achievements, ranging from top-tier accreditation and recognition to faculty and student contributions in international research.

“UIN Jakarta is now ranked in the QS WUR 101–150 by subject for Theology, Divinity, and Religious Studies. A total of 63 study programs have received international accreditation, 2% of our faculty are recognized globally, and our Faculty of Medicine has graduated 1,200 doctors,” he added.

Chairman of the UIN Jakarta Alumni Association (IKALUIN), Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si., added that the UIN Jakarta's strategic role dates back to its early days as ADIA and IAIN to the present.

“UIN Jakarta has proven itself as a Center of Excellence that enriches Islamic tradition and strengthens the relationship between religion and the state as an integral part of the nation’s ideology,” he noted.

He further highlighted the significant roles held by UIN Jakarta alumni in government and beyond.

“Our alumni have taken up strategic positions in bureaucracy, including the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Director General of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Najib Burhani, and the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education. This demonstrates UIN Jakarta’s vital role in producing outstanding human resources to support national development,” he added.

Minister of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., underlined the moral responsibility of alumni and the academic community to safeguard and advance their alma mater.

“As both an alumnus and a former university leader, I feel a personal responsibility to continuously support UIN Jakarta’s development,” he asserted.

He also reminded UIN lecturers to embody the true essence of educators by drawing inspiration from Prof. Harun Nasution.

“UIN needs not only smart lecturers but true educators—teachers with the right guidance who impart knowledge with sincerity. Prof. Harun Nasution, a figure who was consistent, rational, and determined for what he preached, embodies this legacy," he emphasized.

The event, attended by the academic community, alumni across generations, and strategic national and international partners, concluded with a symbolic ceremony and group photographs, reflecting a collective commitment to strengthening UIN Jakarta’s global reputation.

To mark its 68th anniversary, UIN Jakarta also hosted a series of events, including the 2025 Santri Day, sports competitions (KREXPO), the National Dialogue and Pancacinta forum, and a Fun Run at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.
