UIN Jakarta Marks 69th Anniversary with Massive International Ranking Advancement and Global Campus Integration

JAKARTA, UIN Online News – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially inaugurated its 69th Founding Anniversary through a High-Level Open Senate Assembly. Coinciding with the Islamic New Year, the milestone celebration firmly establishes the university’s expanding footprint in global higher education under the official institutional theme “Celebrating 69 Years of Promoting Inclusive and Global Higher Education in a Nurturing Eco-Technology Environment.”

Opening the senate assembly, the Secretary of the University Senate, Professor Masri Mansoer, delivered a pivotal address on academic integrity in the digital era. He urged the global academic community to adopt a highly strategic framework regarding artificial intelligence.

"Artificial Intelligence does not replace human intellect; rather, it amplifies pedagogical quality," Professor Mansoer asserted. "UIN Jakarta’s stance on AI is definitive. We must reject reactive technophobia and avoid blind, uncritical technology adoption. AI must be leveraged strictly as an academic tool backed by absolute social responsibility. Universities are not mere vocational training centers; they remain vital global hubs of science, morality, advanced research, and civilizational development."

Following the senate address, the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Professor Asep Saepudin Jahar, Ph.D., presented the 2026 Annual Institutional Report, unveiling unprecedented leaps in global university metrics. With 13 specialized faculties and 94 distinct study programs, UIN Jakarta has successfully transitioned into an elite-tier global research institution.

The university’s academic reputation is heavily validated by its current positions in premier international registries, including ranking within the 801-850 bracket in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, capturing the 29th position worldwide in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, and placing 238th globally in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025.

"Global university rankings are not our ultimate destination, but they serve as transparent, international benchmarks to verify that our academic rigor, research output, and institutional governance are evolving effectively," Rector Jahar stated. "This quality assurance is further cemented by the prestigious ACQUIN accreditation from Germany achieved by 44 of our study programs, alongside the establishment of seven new cutting-edge departments."

The annual report also disclosed exponential spikes in international research output and financial independence throughout the fiscal year. In 2026 alone, UIN Jakarta generated 124 Scopus-indexed research publications, pushing its cumulative citation total to 1,622. This research momentum is backed by a massive Three-Year SINTA Score of 394,549 points.

On the diplomatic front, the university's international network has expanded to encompass 180 active global university partnerships. This administrative excellence is mirrored by a powerful 19.23 percent surge in Public Service Agency (BLU) institutional revenues, which climbed to Rp640.9 billion (approximately USD 39.5 million), significantly surpassing initial projections. To streamline internal governance, the university’s digital enterprise platform, e-Semesta, has successfully reached an 80.3 percent campus-wide implementation rate.

The institutional transformation is drawing immense praise from the student body, who are experiencing the tangible benefits of the university's multi-disciplinary expansion. Medical student Atiyah Hana Mutmainah expressed profound appreciation for the successful evolution beyond classical theology into highly competitive global STEM and health sciences tracks.

Simultaneously, the university’s commitment to its eco-technology blueprint is clearly visible in its zero-emission transit infrastructure. Undergraduate student Muhammad Umar highlighted that the deployment of zero-emission electric campus buses has drastically improved mobility across university complexes while matching global sustainability goals. This welfare network will be further enhanced by the impending construction of a state-of-the-art pedestrian overpass designed to ensure student safety and optimize urban traffic flow.

Concluding the assembly, the Chairman of the 69th Anniversary Committee and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Zaki, explained that this open senate assembly marks the launch of a comprehensive academic festival featuring global scientific symposia, international research seminars, and community development initiatives culminating in late September.

"We are firmly executing the Rector’s long-term strategic vision," Dr. Zaki concluded. "Every initiative is aligned to accelerate internationalization, expand our smart green campus infrastructure, and solidify UIN Jakarta’s position as the premier benchmark for modern, progressive Islamic higher education on the global stage."
