UIN Jakarta Library Holds Workshop on Utilizing E-Resources to Support Research

Central Library, UIN Online News - The information literacy workshop themed "Roles, Strategies, and Utilization of E-Resources in Supporting Research" was one of the highlights of the Library Fest 2024. The event, held on Tuesday (28/05/2024), featured Senior Librarian Lilik Istiqoriyah, S.Ag., S.S., M.Hum.

In her presentation, Lilik explained how to streamline the search for research data. She introduced the concept of boolean operators and appropriate synonyms to facilitate accurate data retrieval.

Lilik provided a list of e-resources subscribed to by the university and faculty libraries, encouraging students to explore resources beyond Google Scholar.

"Friends, using Google Scholar alone is not enough to meet your resource needs," Lilik, who also serves as the Health Sciences Faculty Librarian, emphasized during her presentation.

She guided participants through a hands-on session on how to search for scholarly works via the Jstor website, teaching them strategies to narrow down their searches effectively.

The Central Library's WiFi network, which connects automatically to Jstor, allows the academic community to access subscribed content freely. This provides UIN Jakarta's faculty and students with extensive research material.

Lilik also recommended using the Al Manhal electronic library, particularly beneficial for students in fields related to Arabic-language works.

She demonstrated various features, highlighting the translation tool and text dictation available on Al Manhal, which enhances accessibility for non-native speakers.

The Library Festival 2024, running from May 27 to May 31, 2024, celebrates UIN Jakarta's anniversary under the theme "Me, You, and the Library Becoming Us in the Digital Era." The festival's agenda includes book exhibitions, Library Talks with Professors, information literacy workshops, author meet-and-greets, and the naming ceremony of the Azyumardi Azra Library building.
