UIN Jakarta Law Alumni Raise Over IDR 523 Million for Smart Classrooms and Student Endowment Fund
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News – The enduring commitment of global alumni toward their alma mater was powerfully demonstrated during the Grand Alumni Homecoming of the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. As a core highlight of the faculty’s 59th anniversary celebrations, the returning graduates successfully generated IDR 523,920,000 in immediate financial donations. The fund is strictly earmarked for the construction of AI-integrated smart classrooms and the structural reinforcement of the student endowment fund.
According to the official FSH financial brief released on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, IDR 300 million of the total pool has been directly allocated to fund the technological overhaul of traditional lecture halls into smart classrooms.
Concurrently, IDR 223,920,000 is designated for the Alumni Endowment Fund, a permanent financial safety net managed to support high-potential FSH students facing severe macroeconomic challenges. Institutional organizers expect this baseline figure to expand significantly as several prominent corporate and judicial alumni have pledged additional financial transfers post-event.
In his keynote address, the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, urged the alumni network to continuously escalate their socio-economic contributions toward university infrastructure and student aid networks.
"UIN Jakarta is consistently advancing into an excellent, top-tier university at both national and international thresholds. Simultaneously, we hold a rigid moral and administrative responsibility to guarantee that no student has their higher education disrupted or halted due to financial limitations," the Rector asserted.
To kickstart the philanthropic drive, Rector Jahar personally contributed an initial donation of IDR 50 million. His leadership was immediately mirrored by prominent alumni figures. Notable private contributions included IDR 20 million from Burhan and his spouse, IDR 25 million from Indonesian Member of Parliament Guspardi Gaus, IDR 50 million from BRI Commissioner Lukmanul Hakim, and IDR 20 million each from Senior Jurists Yasardin and Muhaya. Additionally, prominent graduates Gojali and Yayuk Afiyanah each chipped in IDR 10 million, alongside dozens of other professional graduates contributing varied amounts.
Beyond fluid cash endowments, the structural modernization of the university’s technological ecosystem received massive support through physical asset legacy donations. Dr. Wahiduddin Adams, former Constitutional Court Justice, alongside Prof. Asep Syarifuddin Hidayat, Senior FSH Professor, officially funded the comprehensive design of two advanced classrooms, dedicated as a legacy tribute honoring their parents.
Furthermore, Lukmanul Hakim, serving as a corporate Commissioner of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), alongside a nationwide collective of Islamic Court Judges graduated from FSH, announced an executive partnership to construct an advanced digital mock courtroom and an additional smart classroom module.
These advanced projects complement infrastructure grants recently acquired by the faculty, which include two modern lecture chambers from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and an interactive Creative Lounge funded by Pegadaian Syariah. This multi-sector resource mobilization was strategically spearheaded by Prof. M. Asrorun Niam Sholeh, Senior Professor of FSH.
During the session, the Rector re-emphasized UIN Jakarta’s recent international landmarks, particularly its climb to Rank 29 globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject for Theology, Divinity, and Religious Studies. He noted that the acceleration of global academic quality must operate in tandem with robust social safety nets protecting the student body.
The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Muhammad Maksum, clarified that building institutional synergy with the alumni network represents a primary long-term growth strategy for the faculty. He detailed that FSH is currently executing three core student-centric programs:
-
"Alumni Peduli" (Alumni Care): Operationalized through the rapid construction of smart classrooms, the expansion of the permanent endowment fund, and the launch of the "Alumni Asuh" (Alumni Guardianship) student-sponsor framework.
-
"Road to Career": A professional onboarding and mentorship pipeline connecting active upperclassmen with seasoned alumni practitioners based on specific judicial, corporate, or political specializations.
-
Advanced Alumni Data Integration: Upgrading the central graduate tracking network while initiating the physical construction of the FSH Historical Gallery and Museum to serve as the definitive repository archiving the six-decade journey of the faculty.
The Dean concluded that this year's homecoming serves as absolute empirical evidence that the relationship between UIN Jakarta and its graduates extends far beyond social reunions. It stands as a highly functional, proactive partnership dedicated to engineering modern, inclusive, and globally competitive learning terrains for the next generation of global leaders.
