UIN Jakarta Launches Indonesian Lab of Anthropo-Psychology at Public Seminar on Cyberfaith
South Tangerang, UIN Online News — The Graduate School (SPs) of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic Jakarta hosted a public lecture themed “Cyberfaith Among Muslim Millennials,” which also marked the official launching of the first Indonesian lab for Anthropo-Psychology of Religion and Spirituality research on Wednesday (19/11/2025).
The ceremony was attended by the Director of the Graduate School of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Zulkifli, M.A.; Professor of Psychology of Religion at UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Rena Latifa, M.Psi.; Professor of Psychology at the University of Denver, USA, Prof. Daniel N. McIntosh, Ph.D.; Director of the Social Psychology of Religion Lab, IU South Bend, USA, Prof. Kevin L. Ladd, Ph.D.; BRIN Researcher Daniel Rabitha, M.Psi.; along with graduate students.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Zulkifli officially launched the new laboratory as a pioneering initiative by involving leading academics, students, and international collaborators in advancing research, publication, and global partnerships.
"And this event is a series of academic efforts to gain academic excellence and innovation by our team in graduate school,” he stated.
He further explained that the Graduate School offers master’s and doctoral programs in Islamic studies with various concentrations, including Islamic psychology, Islam and health, Islam and medicine, Islam and gender, Islamic philanthropy, and other emerging research interests.
Prof. Zulkifli also showcased the team’s latest work exploring how Muslim millennials engage with emerging forms of cyberfaith.
“We also, besides publication of journal articles, we also wrote a kind of manual book for Millennials, we call it, the title, Becoming Religious in Cyberfaith, or something like that,” he added.
The public lecture continued with several presentations covering the introduction of the new anthropo-psychology laboratory and dissemination of ongoing research, followed by 2 international assessors, Prof. Daniel N. McIntosh, Ph.D., and Prof. Kevin L. Ladd, Ph.D., who checked the education facilities in SPs UIN Jakarta.
