UIN Jakarta launches agribusiness innovation center

Ciputat, UIN News Online – In order to sharpen the contribution of Islamic religious colleges in the domestic agricultural industry sector, UIN Jakarta launched the Agribusiness Innovation Center on Friday (10/30/2020). The presence of the Agribusiness Innovation Center is considered relevant to various challenges in the agribusiness sector for the benefit of society in the future.

“I hope Agribusiness Innovation Center can continue to develop and bring the good name of UIN Jakarta through its dedication and research works,” said the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis during the opening of the Webinar and Launching of the Agribusiness Innovation Center.

According to the Rector, the presence of the Agribusiness Innovation Center is also in line with the actualization of the idea of scientific integration carried out by UIN Jakarta after its transformation in 2002. The idea was conceived as a general scientific development such as medicine, economics and others in addition to the strengthening of Islamic sciences.

She also hopes that the presence of this center will also strengthen the meaning of science integration in the food sector that is needed by society in the future. Islamic teachings, she explained, emphasized three things that must be jointly developed by humans in a fair and equitable manner, namely water resources, agricultural activities, and renewable energy.

Mudatsir Najamuddin who was appointed as Executive Director of the Center for Agribusiness Innovation explained that the institution he leads is expected to strengthen the scientific contribution and community service of UIN Jakarta to society.

The launch of the Agribusiness Innovation Center itself was appreciated by many. Lutfia Hidayani, who completed her undergraduate education at the Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Jakarta, welcomed the presence of the institution and hopes that this institution can encourage studies and entrepreneurship in the agribusiness sector.

Appreciation was also given by Raffi Paramawati, a researcher and practitioner of the herbal plant industry. “Congratulations on the Agribusiness Innovation Center. Indonesia as the third largest country in terms of biodiversity has a huge opportunity in agribusiness. I hope this center will become one of the centers for the study and development of businesses in the agrbusiness sector,” said Raffi. (usa/zm)
