UIN Jakarta is ready to support the Eight Priority Programs of Kemenag RI

Rectorate Building, UIN Online News -  The Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenag RI) has formally launched eight priority initiatives, titled Asta Protas Kemenag Berdampak. This program aims to significantly contribute to the realization of Asta Cita and to assist the 17 priority initiatives established by the Indonesian President and Vice President.

Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar M.A., the Minister of Religious Affairs, said during the inauguration ceremony in the HM Rasjidi Auditorium, Jakarta, on Thursday (6/3/2025), that Asta Protas also comprises eight main programs akin to the Asta Cita program.

In response to the initiation of this program, the rector of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., confirmed UIN Jakarta's readiness to assist in the program's execution.

"The collaboration between universities and the Ministry of Religious Affairs is crucial for achieving a more inclusive, transparent, and digitally-oriented religious governance. Thereby, I strongly believe in this program as a strategic measure to enhance the role of religion in national and state affairs," he affirmed.

Eight Principal Initiatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs

Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar delineated eight priority initiatives of the Asta Protas:

  1. Promoting Harmony and Compassion for Humanity
  2. Fortifying Ecotheology
  3. Delivering Effective Religious Services
  4. Achieving Superior, Welcoming, and Integrated Education
  5. Empowering Islamic Boarding School
  6. Enhancing Community Economic Development
  7. Ensuring a Successful Hajj
  8. Utilizing Digital Integration

First, enhancing harmony and love for humanity aims to enhance the quality of religious harmony, reinforcing religious moderation and developing a curriculum centered on humanitarian love and the understanding of diversity.

Second, strengthening ecotheology addresses the climate situation in Indonesia. For this reason, starting an environmental conservation effort in a religious country requires proper knowledge and spiritual consciousness of the significance of environmental stewardship.

Third, impactful religious services demonstrate the Ministry of Religious Affairs' commitment to addressing every religious problem encountered by the community. This will be executed by enhancing the marriage counseling, promoting economic welfare at the household level, and improving the service of the Religious Affairs Offices (KUA).

Fourth, the pursuit of excellent, friendly, and integrated education aims to enhance the nation's educational landscape. The target is to complete the distribution of the certification program within the next two years. Thus, it will generate certified teachers spread across any educational levels.

Fifth, empowering Islamic boarding schools seeks to enhance the quality and recognition of pesantren graduates. Consequently, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will directly enhance the autonomy of pesantren by offering financial enterprise support.

Sixth, strengthening the community's economy will maximize the efficacy of religious social funds (zakat) through better regulation. The accumulation of social funds is considered essential. Therefore, achieving proper allocation and execution at the regional level will enhance the economic development of a community.

Seventh, Hajj success will fortify the Indonesian Hajj members and registrants by updating its administration system. The Ministry of Religious Affairs will also provide comprehensive hajj services, including preparation, execution, and return.

Ninth, digital governance advocates for digital integration for providing cheap, accessible, efficient, and transparent religious services to the people.

UIN Jakarta's preparation in the future

As a state Islamic university, UIN Jakarta plays a pivotal role in offering academically grounded insights to reinforce the policies advocated in Asta Protas. The academic community at UIN Jakarta will fully support these initiatives via research, teaching, and the enhancement of religious moderation.

With assistance from many entities, including State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN), it is anticipated that the Asta Protas program by Kemenag RI would operate effectively to provide extensive advantages for Indonesian society.
