UIN Jakarta International Cooperation Service Center Holds Public Lecture on Research Collaboration and Scholarship in Germany
Jakarta, March 14, 2024 - In an effort to strengthen international networks and open opportunities for research collaboration and scholarships, the Center for International Cooperation Services (PLKI) LP2M UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has successfully organized a Public Lecture entitled "Exploring Research Collaboration and Scholarship Opportunities in Germany: Establishing Personal and Institutional Connections". The event took place on Thursday, March 14, 2024, in the Diorama Room, Harun Nasution Auditorium.
Dr. Guido Schnieders, Director of the DAAD Jakarta Regional Office, was the main speaker. He explained the opportunities for further education in Germany, including S2, S3, and Postdoc programs at various institutions such as the Max Planck Society, Helmholtz Association, and Leibniz Association. Dr. Schnieders also explained about DAAD and the scholarship application process, including requirements and tips on getting a research supervisor.
"We hope this event can be a bridge for Indonesian academics to connect with research and education institutions in Germany," said Dr. Guido Schnieders.
One of the main focuses was the importance of networking through lecturers, conferences, and relevant literature. Dr. Schnieders emphasized the use of databases such as www.gerit.org/en and https://gepris.dfg.de/ to find institutions and research projects in Germany. She also provided guidance on how to write effective emails to potential supervisors, with tips that included clear subject lines, correct title and name, and brief and clear presentation of the research project.
Dr. Schnieders also provided insight into the DAAD scholarship application process, "Understanding the requirements and application tips is the key to successfully obtaining a scholarship," he said, explaining the importance of networking and finding the right research supervisor.
Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., Rector of UIN Jakarta and DAAD scholarship alumni, also gave a speech. He inspired the audience to take advantage of the DAAD scholarship opportunity to pursue higher education in Germany, based on his experience at Leipzig University.
The Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., reminded the participants, "Take advantage of every opportunity to expand your horizons of knowledge and international experience," he said, based on his experience as a DAAD scholarship alumni at Leipzig University.
The event was attended by students, lecturers, and researchers who are eager to expand their horizons and international networks. PLKI UIN Jakarta is committed to continue supporting the academic community in exploring opportunities for research collaboration and scholarships abroad. (PIH)
