UIN Jakarta Inaugurates All-Female Cohort of New Physicians at 56th Hippocratic Oath Ceremony

M.K. Tadjudin Auditorium, UIN Online News – The Faculty of Medicine at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held its 56th Hippocratic Oath ceremony, officially inducting five junior doctors into the medical profession. The graduation and swearing-in ceremony took place at the M.K. Tadjudin Auditorium, Faculty of Medicine, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, alongside executive members of the medical deanat. These included the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fika Ekayanti, the Vice Dean for General Administration, Planning, and Finance, Dr. Erike Anggraini Suwarsono, and the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni, Dr. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin. Also present were the Head of the Medical Profession Program, Dr. Risahmawati, and the Head of the Medical Student Program, Dr. Marita Fadhilah.

Distinguished guests from external institutions also attended, including Dr. Mahrus El-Mawa, representing the Directorate General of Islamic Education under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. He was joined by the Education and Training Team Manager of Fatmawati General Hospital, Dr. Dewi Apriyanti, and the Vice Chairman of the UIN Jakarta Muslim Medical Alumni Association, Dr. Aditiya Bagus Wicaksono.

In his keynote address, Prof. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie emphasized that the medical profession is a profound calling that demands not only rigorous academic excellence but also an unwavering moral and humanitarian responsibility toward society.

"Moving forward, you will step into profound human spaces, spaces filled with anxiety, pain, and vulnerability. This is where your true responsibility lies," he stated.

He also reminded the graduates that UIN Jakarta alumni are expected to serve as role models in society, upholding the institution's reputation by delivering healthcare services with professionalism and deep integrity.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Mahrus El-Mawa from the Ministry of Religious Affairs emphasized the importance of integrating modern science with ethical values, a signature trait of Islamic public universities in Indonesia. He highlighted that education must remain an inclusive space that grants equal opportunities to everyone.

"Our core shared principle is ensuring that women have equal access and rights to education. Learning is a continuous human endeavor, spanning both structured academics and daily life experiences," he remarked.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Fika Ekayanti, noted that the landscape of medicine in Indonesia increasingly reflects strong female participation and leadership. This milestone, she added, marks a highly positive contribution by UIN Jakarta to the national healthcare workforce.

The ceremony reached its peak with the administration of the medical oath, taken by the five newly minted physicians:

With the conclusion of this 56th ceremony, the Faculty of Medicine at UIN Jakarta officially adds five new medical professionals to its alumni network, all poised to strengthen public health services and advance clinical excellence in the medical field.
