UIN Jakarta Inaugurates 13 New Full Professors: Here Is the Complete List
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has reached another major academic milestone by officially inaugurating 13 new Full Professors during an Open Senate Session at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Wednesday (30/09/2026). This inauguration expands the university's roster of full professors while consolidating its position as the State Islamic Higher Education Institution (PTKIN) with the highest number of full professors in Indonesia.
The Open Senate Session was opened by University Senate Chairman Prof. Dr. Andi Faisal Bakti, M.A., while the inauguration ceremony was led by UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., marked by the presentation of the Ministerial Decrees (SK) and the conferring of professorial sashes.
The event was attended by the executive leadership of UIN Jakarta, including Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., Vice Rector for General Administration Prof. Dr. Imam Subchi, M.A., and Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D..
Distinguished state officials and invited guests were also present, including Minister of Religious Affairs RI Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A.; Minister of Primary and Secondary Education RI Prof. Dr. K.H. Abdul Mu'ti, M.Ed.; Minister of Religious Affairs RI for the 2014–2019 period H. Lukman Hakim Saifuddin accompanied by his spouse Hj. Trisna Willy; Director General of Research and Development at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Dr. Fauzan Adziman; Chairman of KPU RI Afifuddin; Head of the Educational and Training Institution of the Indonesian National Police Comm. Gen. Pol. Drs. R. Z. Panca Putra S., M.Si.; Director of PKUMI Prof. Dr. K.H. Ahmad Thib Raya; Advisor to the DWP Ministry of Religious Affairs RI Dra. Hj. Helmi Halimatul Udhmah; and the spouse of Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, Hj. Rustini Murtadho.
Leaders from partner higher education institutions also attended, including Rector of UIN Malang Prof. Dr. Ilfi Nurdiana, M.Si.; Rector of UMJ Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Si.; and Rector of the International Islamic University Indonesia Prof. Jamhari Ma’ruf, M.A., Ph.D..
In his address, Minister of Religious Affairs RI Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., emphasized that the inauguration of these 13 new full professors represents a crucial momentum to revive UIN Jakarta's scholarly reputation as a meeting hub for Eastern and Western Islamic thought (al-masyriq wal-maghrib), while encouraging campus academics to boldly forge intellectual breakthroughs on the global stage.
“The presence of our 13 new full professors at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is expected to restore the 'Ciputat myth.' Historically, Ciputat served as a confluence where great rivers from the East and West met. It is high time we become producers of knowledge, no longer mere consumers,” the Minister stressed.
Echoing these sentiments, University Senate Chairman Prof. Dr. Andi Faisal Bakti, M.A., highlighted the role of full professors as academic exemplars in aligning technological leaps—such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data—with Islamic ethical values and spiritual wisdom. He noted that the expertise of full professors must be directed toward guiding future generations and cultivating an academic culture grounded in integrity, critical inquiry, and responsibility.
“Technological advancement must be guided by Islamic values: trustworthiness (amanah) in data stewardship, justice in technological application, public benefit (maslahah) as the ultimate purpose, and compassion (rahmat) toward humanity. Here is where UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta bridges technological sophistication with ethical depth, spirituality, and human responsibility,” he added.
On the same occasion, UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., underlined that achieving full professorship marks the pinnacle of an academic career, carrying profound responsibilities in both scholarly and social spheres. Beyond material considerations, he emphasized that a professor's core foundation rests on sustained scholarship and dedicated service.
“I urge the new full professors to continue serving UIN and the nation, to hold an enduring devotion to UIN, and to maintain an unyielding love for knowledge, for it is this legacy that future generations will remember,” he affirmed.
