Student Center Field, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta hosted the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Fair as a platform for freshmen to explore various extracurricular programs aimed at developing their interests and talents. The event, held on Saturday (September 6, 2025) at the Student Center Field, brought together first-year students from all faculties, along with 16 Student Activity Units (UKMs) and three Autonomous Units (LOs).
The event was officially opened by Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., who delivered a welcome address to the freshmen. He emphasized that success is not solely measured by academic performance but also by skills, critical thinking abilities, character, and the cultivation of one’s talents.
“I firmly believe that if you truly make the most of your four to five years studying in Jakarta, develop your interests properly, gain organizational skills, and build strong character, you will achieve success,” he remarked.
Dr. Aktobi Ghozali, M.A., the advisor for the UKM Fair, highlighted in his report that UIN Jakarta’s student organizations offer diverse activities to support personal growth and talent development. “These range from arts and creative talents, religious activities, journalism, environmental initiatives, and political resistance,” he explained.
The event featured various exhibitions and performances by participating UKMs, each showcasing their unique focus areas. Among the featured groups were the Student Press Institute, Kalacitra Photography Student Community (KMF), Foreign Languages Association (FLAT), HIQMA (Quran Reciter Association), Campus Da’wa Organization (LDK), Student Music Community, Student Sports Federation, Nature Enthusiasts Club, Scout Movement, Bidikmisi Student Forum (FORMABI KIP), Student Regiment (Menwa), Syahid Theater, Marching Band, and the Student Choir, among others.
In addition to the exhibitions, the UKM Fair presented a wide array of activities, including talk shows, book discussions, collaborative performances, games, modeling workshops, and live music performances open to the entire academic community. The event also featured a food court and beverage stalls to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
The event’s chief organizer, Haikal, expressed his hopes that the fair would help first-year students find their preferred extracurricular activities. “We hope our fellow students will be interested in joining one of the UKMs or LOs at UIN Jakarta,” he shared.
