UIN Jakarta Hosts Public Lecture with Singaporean Minister and Ambassador

Ruang Diorama, UIN Online News - UIN Jakarta successfully organized a public lecture titled "Building Resilience and Harmony: Singapore’s Vision for the Next Generation" in collaboration with the Embassy of Singapore to Indonesia. The event featured the Minister of State for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of National Development of Singapore, Assoc. Prof. Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, as the keynote speaker on Tuesday (30/07/2024).

The public lecture was opened with remarks from the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., represented by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D.

“We are grateful to the Ambassador and the Minister of State of Singapore in delivering public lecture at our campus, considering that Singapore and Indonesia share the same goals in creating national harmony,” he said.

In addition, the Vice-Rector highlighted the strong relationship between institutions in Singapore and UIN Jakarta, which has been strengthened by various collaborations between UIN and universities in Singapore.

“As the largest Islamic institution in Indonesia, we have a responsibility to provide quality education and impactful research,” said Ali.

He noted the potential for collaboration in the fields of sustainable development and interfaith dialogue, as well as bridging the gap between Singapore and Indonesia.

“Indonesia and Singapore are too close in proximity to ignore each other, yet too far apart due to economic disparities,” he remarked.

The Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia, Kwok Fook Seng, expressed that the Singaporean government is pleased to engage in discussions and share knowledge with educational institutions.

“When our ministers have the opportunity to visit Indonesia, we are delighted to bring them to universities because we are passionate about engaging in dialogue with educators and students,” he said.

He viewed this discussion as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the two neighboring countries. Both countries have a good relationship, and it must be maintained and strengthened.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development of Singapore, Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, emphasized that Singapore is a country that prioritizes education and hard work in social life.

“We uphold the principle that Singapore is a place for everyone. We fully support proper education for the community, as it allows us to build the nation together,” he said.
