UIN Jakarta Holds Seminar and Launching of CSSN

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta organizes seminar entitled “Mainstreaming Disability Inclusion in Islamic Higher Education” and the launching of Center for Students with Social Needs (CSSN), Friday, (12/15/2017) at Harun Nasution Auditorium, campus I of UIN Jakarta.

The event which is moderated by Siti Nurul Azkiyah, Ph.D. (UIN Jakarta) presents Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, MA (Rector of UIN Jakarta); Luis Gomez de Membrillera from the INDOEDUC4ALL program, University of Alicante, Spain; Dr. Arief Subhan, MA (Dean of Faculty of Da'wa & Communication Sciences UIN Jakarta); Dr. Siti Napsiyah Arifuzzaman, MSW (CSSN UIN Jakarta) and Alastair McEwin (Australia's Disability Discrimination Commissioner) as speakers.

Dean of FIDK UIN Jakarta Dr Arief Subhan in his remarks said that the launching of CSSN is one UIN Jakarta’s commitment as an inclusive campus. “Persons with disabilities also have the right to education, therefore UIN Jakarta as an inclusive campus sets up this center so they can gain full access to education,” said Arief.

Meanwhile, Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada stated that the center will provide advocacy for both for students and prospective students with disabilities in UIN Jakarta.

“Hopefully, this center can facilitate the students and prospective students in UIN Jakarta who have special needs in carrying out their studies,” said Rector.

In addition to UIN Jakarta leaders, this event also attended by Heads of Center for Special Needs from various universities, Heads of Disabled-based Social Service Institutions, both Government Institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Schools for disabled children Headmasters in JABODETABEK area, and disability-rights activist.
