UIN Jakarta Holds Rumah Zakat Indonesia Scholarship Award Ceremony

Main Meeting Room, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially held the Rumah Zakat Indonesia Scholarship Award Ceremony, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to higher education through strategic partnerships with philanthropic organizations. The event, held on Friday (January 23, 2026), marked the presentation of scholarships to eight UIN Jakarta students selected as recipients of the Rumah Zakat Indonesia Scholarship Program.

The ceremony was attended by Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Affairs Prof. Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D., Chief Impact and Sustainability Officer of Rumah Zakat Landung Tri Sugiarto, S.Si., M.M., Head of Program Distribution Hermansyah, S.Pd., and the scholarship recipients.

In his remarks, Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Ali Munhanif emphasized that scholarships should be viewed not merely as financial assistance but as a moral responsibility to contribute positively to society. He encouraged recipients to actively participate in student organizations, community service, and leadership activities throughout their academic journey.

“This scholarship is not simply financial support—it is a social responsibility. Don't just attend classes and go home. Be active both on and off campus because those experiences and networks will shape your future,” he said.

Representing Rumah Zakat Indonesia, Chief Impact and Sustainability Officer Landung Tri Sugiarto explained that education remains one of the organization's flagship programs in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Beyond tuition assistance, scholarship recipients will also be involved in leadership development, research, volunteerism, and community empowerment initiatives.

“In addition to receiving financial assistance, students will participate in various programs, including research and volunteer activities. Our goal is to help them grow beyond the classroom,” he stated.

He further noted that Rumah Zakat continues to strengthen partnerships with universities through collaborative initiatives such as community service programs (KKN) and impact-oriented research, ensuring that scholarship recipients develop both academic excellence and social awareness.

Meanwhile, Head of Program Distribution Hermansyah explained that the scholarships are funded through zakat contributions entrusted by donors, making accountability and continuous evaluation essential components of the program. Scholarship recipients are required to remain actively involved in program activities while maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40.

“One of our evaluation criteria is student engagement. Participants are encouraged to contribute through digital, health, or social initiatives according to their interests. Academically, they are also expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.40,” he explained.

The eight scholarship recipients represent several academic programs across UIN Jakarta, including Public Health, Social Welfare, and Sharia Economic Law. Through this initiative, the university and Rumah Zakat hope to empower students not only to complete their studies successfully but also to become future leaders capable of creating meaningful social impact within their communities.
