UIN Jakarta Fully Supports Asrorun Niam Sholeh Scholarship for Fatwa Studies, Strengthens Islamic Legal Studies
FSH, UIN News Online — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing higher education quality, particularly in the field of religious studies. This commitment was marked by the official launch of the Asrorun Niam Sholeh Scholarship for Fatwa Studies on Wednesday (April 23, 2025), aimed at supporting students in deepening their understanding of Islamic law, with a special focus on fatwa studies.
The scholarship program was officially launched by the Chairman of the Fatwa Division of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Prof. Dr. H. Asrorun Niam Sholeh, who also serves as a Professor of Islamic Jurisprudence at UIN Jakarta. In his remarks, he emphasized that the scholarship is part of a tangible effort to nurture a new generation of scholars with deep expertise in fatwa studies.
"The Aslaf Scholarship is a humble initiative to bring benefits to others, especially in religious studies—more specifically in Islamic law, and even more precisely in the study of fatwa," he said.
The Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., welcomed the program positively. He noted that such collaborations are crucial to realizing UIN Jakarta’s vision as a center for the development of globally competitive Islamic scholarship.
“UIN Jakarta will continue to transform in pursuit of high-quality education. We believe that through partnerships like this scholarship, students will be empowered to produce impactful academic work, especially in the religious sphere,” he remarked.
The inauguration of the scholarship program was witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Maksum, M.A., M.D.C., MUI’s Head of International Relations and Cooperation, Prof. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, and UIN Jakarta’s Political Communication Expert, Prof. Dr. Khamami Zada, M.A., along with hundreds of enthusiastic FSH students.
With the launch of the Asrorun Niam Sholeh for Fatwa Studies program, UIN Jakarta reaffirms its role not only as an academic institution but also as a vital player in strengthening social and religious engagement by empowering a new generation of young Muslim intellectuals.
