UIN Jakarta Explores Cooperation with Various Universities in India

New Delhi, April 24, 2024 - In an effort to strengthen international cooperation and enhance the quality of higher education, the Rector of the State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., released a delegation led by Prof. Maila Rahiem, Ph.D., Head of the International Cooperation Service Center, to make a historic visit to India from April 18 to 21, 2024. This visit involves important meetings with several leading universities in India to discuss academic and research cooperation.

At the University of Delhi (QS World University Ranking #407), the delegation met with Prof. Ashutosh Bhardwaj and Prof. Anil Rai, Deans for International Relations, who emphasized the importance of further cooperation in the field of psychology. "We are very enthusiastic about this cooperation initiative and hope to implement it soon," said Prof. Ashutosh. Virtual inter-faculty meetings are planned as the next step, with the MoU to be processed soon.

Next, at Jamia Millia Islamia (QS World University Ranking #951-1000), the delegation was welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eqbal Hussain. "We see many similarities and potential for cooperation, especially in the field of law, which is our expertise," said Prof. Hussain. He also expressed willingness to join the Ahkam Journal as a member of the international editorial board.

During the visit to Aligarh Muslim University (QS World University Ranking #1001-1200), the delegation was received by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Gulrez. "We welcome this cooperation and hope to expand it to more study programs," said Prof. Gulrez. The UIN Jakarta delegation also made presentations in the Arabic language and mass communication departments, which attracted interest in curriculum development and research cooperation. Additionally, the Faculty of Management is interested in exploring cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Jakarta in the field of Islamic Banking.

Furthermore, the UIN Jakarta delegation also visited high schools in Delhi, namely Jamia Millia Secondary Senior School, and in Aligarh, namely AMU City School and STS School, to promote scholarships from the rector and higher education opportunities in Indonesia. "We are very impressed with the enthusiasm of the students and teachers here," said Fathudin, M.H., Secretary of the Research and Community Service Institute. "We hope to welcome more Indian students at UIN Jakarta."

This visit not only resulted in productive discussions but also opened up new opportunities for sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation between higher education institutions in both countries.
